My teenage son tells me I'm old fashioned and how the game's changed. Since my day...well even now I'd say giving yourself half a chance to bat a long time has some merit.

It would be really nice, from an England perspective, to see a last-wicket partnership that goes another 10 overs or so here. Bit of character.

  3. 50 runs

Fifty for Overtonpublished at 37.4 overs

Jamie Overton pitter patters his feet down the pitch and then whips Blair Tickner for four through mid-wicket.

Next ball he heaves a slower ball from outside stump from the Kiwi seamer across the line for another boundary.

A maiden ODI half-century - off exactly 50 balls - for the burly England all-rounder.

  4. Eng 195-9published at 37 overs

Jamie Overton does not have a half-century in List A cricket, either.

Something for us to cling to as the clock ticks towards 4am in the UK. 'I was there when...'

Jamie Overton’s three highest ODI scores in his 10-match career have all come in this series:

    1st ODI = 46,

    2nd ODI = 42,

    3rd ODI currently 42*.

  6. Eng 190-9published at 36.3 overs

Crunch! Jamie Overton backs away to leg and then heaves Jacob Duffy for four towards cow corner. He got plenty of bat on that.

England can win this game, all depends on the new-ball spell.

Jofra Archer does not time this one, however...

A bit of a filthy bottom-handed slog across the line to Blair Tickner which he ends up clothing high off the bat to Michael Bracewell.

He's on his way. England nine down.

  9. Eng 186-8published at 35.5 overs

Jofra Archer with a baseball shot! He stands tall and flat bats Blair Tickner straight down the ground for four.

I see lots of comments that England side knows only one way of playing. It masks the underlying issue, which is hardly anyone has displayed the skill or temperament to defend. See the first ball that Harry Brook played! Is it the stroke for that situation?

    Eng 179-8published at 35.2 overs

Jamie Overton looks to pull Blair Tickner but ends up somehow whacking the ball into himself. The physio is on so we have a short delay while he receives some treatment.

  12. Eng 179-8published at 35 overs

Jofra Archer is hit high on the pad by the second-to-last ball of Jacob Duffy's over. Is this worth a review? Mitchell Santner declines.

It's a wise move as TV replays show a chunky inside edge on it.

Archer rocks on to the back foot and clinically cuts Duffy's next ball for four following a misfield down at third. Nicely played by Archer, though.

I cannot bear another minute of this England stupidity. Extremely down hearted I go to bed.

  14. dropped catch

Archer dropped on threepublished at 34 overs

Jamie Overton squirts a cut off Blair Tickner for four through the vacant third region.

A leading edge of Jofra Archer's bat at the end of the over is spilled by the diving Devon Conway at point. That would have been some take.

England's players chat among themselves in the dug out.

I spent many a happy summer watching repeats of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) on BBC2 after the cartoons had finished, Rob. Before the cricket was on, obviously.

England manage to pick up three runs of a relatively tight Mitchell Santner over.

Blair Tickner was averaging 81mph before he took his first wicket today. Since breaking the Buttler/Bethell partnership, he has added an extra couple of miles per hour to his deliveries.

I saw Blair Tickner play for Derbyshire against Lancashire in Chesterfield back in June. He's looked much more of a handful today than he did on a hazy English summer's day at Queens Park.

Jofra Archer is the new batter for England.

    Carse c Mitchell b Tickner 36 (Eng 160-8)

Hmmm, 250 feels a tad optimistic now.

Brydon Carse hits a full-ish ball from Blair Tickner straight up in the air and Daryl Mitchell waits for it to come down with snow on before pouching the catch.

  20. Eng 159-7published at 31 overs

If England can somehow scrape to 250 here then they'll have something to bowl at.
