Re Jonathan's euphonium Jerusalem, just what I needed to gladden my heart in dark and rainy Newcastle at 6am, but as a music teacher would like to set him a further challenge - any chance of losing the dots and playing it from memory next Test??!

We talk about breaking Test matches down into sessions. England were 3-0 up yesterday in sessions and they've started well this morning.

    Goodness me, that was close.

Harry Brook goes across his stumps to try and sweep very fine but he misses and the ball from Salman Ali Agha is only a whisker away from his leg stump.

England do manage to score three from the over, bringing up the 300 partnership for the fourth wicket and taking them to 550.

It is Joe Root's sixth double hundred in Test cricket and that puts him joint-seventh on the all-time list and second on England's list.

He's gone past Sir Alastair Cook who has five double centuries.

Harry Brook is on the charge.

Quite literally to start the over as he runs at Aamer Jamal and flays the ball over the off side for four.

A leg glance goes away fine for four more before a vicious cut shot goes quickly out to deep point for one.

Joe Root then pulls the last delivery into a gap for two. England tril by just nine.

This is the sixth time England have reached 500 away from home while losing three or less wickets. The last time it happened was against Australia in Brisbane in 2010. All previous instances were before the turn of this century.

    Some shot from Harry Brook!

He manages to reverse sweep the ball through extra cover to end the over and the fielder has to sprint round to deny him the boundary, saving just the one run.

The accolades keep on coming for England's premier batter - Joe Root. He takes off his helmet and shakes his bat. It's the biggest celebration we've seen from him so far from all the accolades he's collected in this innings.

Another day, another milestone for Joe Root!

A reverse sweep for two takes him to 199 before he works the ball off his hip for a single to reach his sixth Test double ton.

He gets there from 305 balls. What an innings this has been.

    Brilliant again from Harry Brook.

He shuffles down the track to Aamer Jamal and whips the ball up and over wide mid-on for four.

The pitch might be deteriorating slightly but Brook couldn't care less, it seems. He's still having a great time.

Harry Brook's 150 came from 186 balls with one six and 13 fours.

It is his third score of 150 or more in Test cricket. He made a 153 in Rawalpindi in the first Test last time here and 186 against New Zealand in Wellington later that Test winter. It's his sixth hundred and fifth one overseas.

A first look of spin today as Salman Ali Agha, in Abrar Ahmed's absence, is brought into the attack.

He does beat Harry Brook on the outside but Joe Root is able to rock back and punch through the covers later in the over.

Seven from it as England move ever closer to Pakistan's first-innings total.

Could you post the overseas TMS link please?? Bali is nice, but a Root and Brook special is better!

I would argue that just about everything that could go wrong for Pakistan, has gone wrong so far on day four.

There's the dropped catch, of course, the fact Harry Brook and Joe Root have just picked up where they left off on day three and, perhaps most worrying of all, we've seen the first indications that this pitch might be starting to break up.

It's only been slight so far but there has been the odd bit of variable bounce, one staying low here, another lifting a touch more there.

Not what Pakistan want when facing a first-innings deficit.

    Sumptuous.

Harry Brook smokes the ball through the covers off Naseem Shah to bring up his 150.

    A marvellous knock.

That dropped catch, as a bowler, makes you feel like the whole world is against you. The ball after that was cracked for four by Joe Root who knows exactly what he is doing - turning the screw against Pakistan.

It feels like it's going to be a tough day ahead for the home side.

Maiden over from Shaheen Afridi with just a leg bye from it.

The partnership between Harry Brook and Joe Root is now up to 265.
