Brilliant execution from Justin Broad as he scoops Chris Wood over fine leg for four then follows up with a whipped pull for four to bring up his own half century.

it has come in 30 balls and Northants are clawing their way back into this with three overs to come.

Justin Broad has continued to put the pressure back on the bowlers and Luke Procter is very experienced.

This is their final partnership but if they can manage to go at 10s for these final overs, that could give Hampshire a few problems.

    Northants 117-6 v Hants

An uppercut from Justin Broad off Scott Currie looks to be travelling to Sonny Baker but the fielder can't hold on, tipping it over the bar for a six.

He should have taken the catch but even then he may have trodden on the rope but it is a momentum shifter for Northants.

Tidy over from Sonny Baker with just seven from it.

Five to go for Northants who will still fancy they can put up a respectable score.

In all fairness, he made me look a little silly as I saw that photo as I sent the text

We're all friends here, Seb. The good thing is that we're playing again.

  6. Postpublished at 12 overs

    Northants 97-6 v Hants

Justin Broad looks the key to Northants posting something they can defend and he was skilful there, steering Benny Howell through point region for four.

He follows up with a hard sweep which, after a bit of a scrambled effort from the boundary rider Ben Mayes on the rope is adjudged to have crossed the line.

Hi Seb (16:18 BST), I thought Gary was being positive, as it helps us to know what’s happening.

  8. Postpublished at 11 overs

    Northants 86-6 v Hants

A dot to complete the 11th over from Scott Currie.

Seven left and Northants have to hope they can get to 150... minimum if they are going to be competitive.

  9. Postpublished at 10.5 overs

    Northants 85-6 v Hants

The players are hovering on the sidelines ready to come back out and the match has been reduced to 18 overs a side.

That has to favour Hants who already have their noses well in front.

Can someone tell Gary to stop being a negative nancy? Rain this, rain that, just enjoy the day.

    Seb, Winchester

To be fair Seb, he has just given us the good news that he can see blue sky and posted a picture of a beautiful rainbow.

They shouldn't be off for too long. I can already see blue sky to the west.

    Northants 86-6 v Hants

The players are off and the covers are on but the sun is out and a rainbow stretches artfully across the sky behind the Hollies Stand.

All very confusing but the fact the groundstaff have stayed out near the hovercover suggests they could be back on soon.

Apparently the match is losing overs from now.

    Steven Finn

Northants have played the situation, said 'we can't consolidate' and have tried to put some pressure back on Hampshire.

But those three early wickets have really done the damage.

McManus run out (Vince) 11 (Northants 86-6 v Hants)

    That could be very important.

Justin Broad nudges to mid-off and sets off to nick a quick single but has second thoughts and sends Lewis McManus back.

James Vince picks and throws with a stump and a half to aim at and scores a direct hit.

At first sight McManus looks home but replays show his bat is half an inch short of grounding in the crease.

That could be a big help for Hampshire if we lose overs.

    Northants 80-5 v Hants

Rain is coming in at the halfway stage and the skies are looking ominous.

Five wickets down is a bad situation for Northants with regard to any Duckworth-Lewis-Stern calculations should we lose overs.

Justin Broad is refusing to take a backward step despite the steady run of departures at the other end.

Bjorn Fortuin turns the ball a lot but Broad reverses then conventionally sweeps for two fours as the over goes for 10.

It is a fine line that the Northants man has to tread here but he has not fallen off it yet.

    Zaib c Orr b Howell (Northants 66-5 v Hants)

Ali Orr celebrates taking the catch to dismiss Saif ZaibImage source, PA Media

Nice grab by Ali Orr on the deep mid-wicket boundary and Northants are in a world of trouble here.

Saif Zaib makes a good connection with a hefty sweep but it is too aerial and Orr, fielding in front of the Hollies Stand, takes a decent catch mid dive.

The TV umpire checks that he has not grounded it as he hits the turf but it all looks good.
