Matt Henry in action for SomersetImage source, Rex Features

While Somerset's batters have been making hay in the glorious Taunton sunshine, there has been a spot of bad news off the pitch.

The return of New Zealand international seamer Matt Henry to the west country has been delayed after he was ruled out of the Black Caps’ ODI series against Pakistan.

Somerset say the 33-year-old is undergoing a phased rehabilitation programme with the New Zealand Sports Science & Medicine team as he looks to return to full fitness.

SCCC Director of Cricket, Andy Hurry said: “Obviously, this is frustrating news for Matt as well as our Somerset members and supporters who we know were looking forward to seeing Matt in the club colours again in April.

“Matt’s health, fitness and wellbeing are everyone’s priority, and we will continue to connect and collaborate with all parties over the next few weeks."

  2. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 112-0 v Sussex 528

All very comfortable for the home side after a couple of early scares including Tom Clark grassing a tough chance at second slip.

Warwickshire's 112-0 has come up in 21 overs with 21 boundaries to boot with Rob Yates and Alex Davies both making half centuries.

Sussex went on the attack but have tried to stem the flow of runs since an opening salvo from Ollie Robinson and Jayden Seales.

  3. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 5 April

    Notts 166-2 v Durham 378

Durham will be buoyed by removing Ben Slater (92) two overs before tea, although it was a wicket of his own making.

Other than that it has largely been Nottinghamshire's afternoon, adding 118 runs for the loss of Slater and skipper Haseeb Hameed.

The match is nicely in the balance.

  4. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 112 overs

    Somerset 482-4 (lead by 328 runs) v Worcs 154

Somerset completely in control here at Taunton with Tom Banton unbeaten on 257 and James Rew on 136.

Fifth bonus point is already in the bag but Somerset will continue to pile on the runs after tea you would have thought.

  5. 50 runs

50 for Rob Yatespublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 112-0 v Sussex 528

Rob Yates joins his captain Alex Davies is raising his bat for a half century.

He has done it in 61 balls and gets there with an overthrow.

A couple of early scares seem an age ago now for these two.

Sussex are down to two slips rather than the four they started with as we have had 20 boundaries in the innings so far.

  6. Tea at Lord'spublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 5 April

    Middlesex 260 v Lancashire 241-4

Lancashire are gradually closing in on Middlesex’s first innings total.

Marcus Harris goes to tea unbeaten on 70 as the Red Rose trail by 19 runs.

They added 112 runs in the session for the loss of Josh Bohannon and Matty Hurst.

  7. Tea at Cardiffpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 5 April

    Glamorgan 229 v Leicestershire 288-6

A stand of 142 for the fourth wicket between former skipper Lewis Hill (96) and his successor Peter Handscomb (63) has put the Foxes on top in Wales.

Andy Gorvin followed up his big dismissal of Handscomb by removing England spinner Rehan Ahmed cheaply as the hosts plug away to restrict the damage.

The visitors lead by 59 with four wickets in hand.

  8. Tea at Derbypublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 5 April

    Derbyshire 391 v Gloucestershire 222

Gloucestershire fought back well after lunch with four quick wickets after lunch as Derbyshire surged into a first innings lead.

But while the wickets tumbled, Wayne Madsen made 116 to put the visitors in control. Zak Chappell added a rapid 61 before he was ninth man out.

Gloucs wrapped up the inning to bring the tea interval, but Derbyshire lead by 169 on first innings.

  9. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 5 April

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 28-1

Centuries for Jordan Cox, Matt Critchley and Michael Pepper helped Essex to their second highest first class total against Surrey.

Sam Cook got rid of Dom Sibley early in the Surrey reply but then saw Critchley drop a simple catch when Ollie Pope chipped a dolly to him at mid-wicket.

Simon Harmer has had a go for Essex early on but there isn't much in the pitch for him.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 5 April

    Slater c Gay b Rhodes 92 (Notts 157-2 v Durham 378)

Oh no, what have you done Ben Slater?

The Notts opener will be furious as he falls eight runs short of a century.

Will Rhodes bangs one in short and Slater can't resist.

There is just one man positioned in the legside - Emilo Gay at long leg - and he picks him out.

Joe Clarke comes to the crease to join Freddie McCann (35).

  11. Bairstow living dangerouslypublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 5 April

    Hampshire 249 v Yorkshire 121 & 89-3

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Johnny Bairstow could have been out two balls in succession.

He latched on to a short ball from Sonny Baker and was seemingly caught right on the deep square leg boundary rope.

However, Nick Gubbins with hands high could only divert the ball into his head and he went off to have a concussion test.

The very next ball Bairstow went for it again and got a top edge.

Substitute fielder Joe Weatherley came running in from the exact same spot that Gubbins had occupied a few moments earlier and appeared to have caught the ball inches off the ground.

The fielders ran to embrace him, Bairstow questioned the catch and seconds later jubilation turned to disappointment as both Weatherley and the umpires confirmed the catch was not complete.

  12. 100 runs

100 up for Warwickshirepublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 100-0 v Sussex 528

It's a century opening partnership between Rob Yates and Alex Davies.

The three figures come up in the 18th over.

We have seen the ball flash to the boundary 19 times already.

A good response from the home side.

  13. 'This will be a very interesting season for Robinson'published at 15:52 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 87-0 v Sussex 528

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Radio WM

It's such an interesting time for Ollie Robinson, the start of this season. It's been over a year now since he's played for England.

He's looked good so far this morning albeit without really getting any reward, but I just think that this is a very interesting season for him because of where England are with their fast bowlers at the moment.

  14. 150 runs

150 for Nottinghamshirepublished at 45.5 overs

    Notts 153-1 v Durham 378

Ben Slater cuts Will Rhodes for his 17th boundary and next ball drives the Durham bowler through midwicket for back-to-back fours.

He's up to 87. Will he go to tea in the nervous nineties? We're 10 minutes from a delayed break.

Freddie McCann then cuts through deep backward point for four to bring up the 150.

  15. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 5 April

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 27-1

    Oh no Matt Critchley!

The Essex centurion has dropped a clanger.

Ollie Pope chips a dolly to Critchley at mid-wicket off the bowling of Sam Cook but the ball is grounded.

You cannot afford to drop those any time, least of all on a batters paradise of a pitch.

  16. 250 runs

250 for Bantonpublished at 108 overs

    Somerset 471-4 (lead by 317) v Worcs 154

A 42nd four off the bat of Tom Banton and the bowling of Tom Taylor brings up another milestone for the Somerset batsman.

  17. 50 runs

50 for Alex Daviespublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 85-0 v Sussex 528

The Warwickshire skipper seems to be in a hurry.

His 50 comes up from 48 balls with 11 boundaries.

We have only had 15 overs.

  18. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 24.5 overs

    Yorks 84-3 & 121 (trail by 44) v Hants 249

Jonny Bairstow made a cautious start as befitted Yorkshire's precarious position in this match but old habits die hard and the White Rose skipper has decided to fight fire with fire.

You can question the wisdom of it (and plenty might) but he has now given three chances in a 24-ball spell at the crease.

Liam Dawson could not hold on to one chance off his own bowling with Bairstow on 6; Nick Gubbins spills one off his head on the boundary for six when he pulled Sonny Baker on 13.

And now sub fielder Joe Weatherly has almost caught him at deep backward square, running in and not quite getting his hands underneath the ball close to the ground.

Gubbins has gone off for a concussion test and Bairstow is now 21 off 33 and playing a risky rearguard action.

  19. Postpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 5 April

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 21-1

Six overs gone of the Surrey reply and Simon Harmer is introduced to the Essex attack with four overs to go before tea.

  20. Postpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 73-0 v Sussex 528

Fourteen overs gone in the Warwickshire reply and it's already looking like a feather bed of a surface.

Rob Yates has crashed some wonderful boundaries through the off side.
