  1. dropped catch

Banton dropped on 314published at 137.6 overs

    Somerset 573-6 (lead by 399) v Worcs 154

Banton danced down the wicket but still didn't quite get to the pitch of that delivery from Brett D'Oliveira, mistiming towards mid on where Matthew Waite dived forward, got to it, but spilled it.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.3 overs

    Procter c Finch b Stewart 14 (Northants 44-2 v Kent - target 260)

    Another breakthrough for Kent!

Grant Stewart runs a delivery across Luke Procter who has to play at a ball which shapes away and takes the outside edge.

Adam Finch does the rest at first slip.

  3. 'A superb delivery from Carson'published at 17:37 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 172-2 v Sussex 528

    Brian Halford
    BBC Radio WM

What a superb delivery from Jack Carson and I don't think Hamza Shaikh did too much wrong there, it must have just got through a little gate but that was beautifully bowled by the spinner.

He flighted it up, trying to draw Shaikh into a drive and he did do that and it snuck through.

That's a big wicket for Sussex.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 66.3 overs

    Clarke b Coughlin 37 (Notts 225-3 v Durham 378)

What was that about looking tired?

Paul Coughlin produces an absolute pearler, getting a ball to jag in sharply, beating the bat of Joe Clarke and smashing into the top of middle stump.

It's sent flying and Clarke's 52-ball knock is over. Jack Haynes joins Freddie McCann (66)

  5. 'Bairstow's 50 was inevitable'published at 17:32 British Summer Time 5 April

    Yorks 153-3 & 121 (lead by 25 runs) v Hants 249

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

There was an air of inevitability about Jonny Bairstow's 50 having been dropped three times before he got to 20.

I think everyone here that's not of a Yorkshire persuasion thought that when he survived those chances, they just knew that he was going to go on and get a few.

  6. Postpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 5 April

    Notts 225-2 v Durham 378

The Durham bowling is beginning to look a wee bit tired as Notts continue to chip away at their first innings deficit.

Joe Clarke picks up another boundary off Paul Coughlin - his seventh - and then strolls through for a single to go to 37.

The hosts look pretty comfortable and are 153 behind.

George Drissell is into his 14th over of spin and ties down Freddie McCann - maiden.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 5 April

    Shaikh b Carson 23 (Warks 172-2 v Sussex 528)

Jack Carson loops one up and in classic spinner style gets it to turn between Hamza Shaikh's bat and pad and he is bowled.

That ball came back a long way and Sussex will like the look of that.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 134.5 overs

    Blake Aldridge c Roderick b D'Oliveira 13 (Somerset 561-6, lead by 407)

Blake Aldridge gives himself room to cut Brett D'Oliveira but feathers a straight one into the gloves of Gareth Roderick behind the stumps.

  9. Division Two round-uppublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 5 April

    #bbccricket

Marcus Harris has brought up a 30th first-class century as he reaches three figures on debut for Lancashire.

    That's some record.

He's unbeaten on 107 and helped the visitors into a 43-run lead over Middlesex with five wickets in hand after losing Luke Wells shortly after tea.

Elsewhere, Ben Charlesworth has reached fifty off 60 balls to help Gloucestershire to 77-1 in their second innings. They trail Derbyshire by 92.

  10. 50 runs

50 partnershippublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 168-1 v Sussex 528

    Hands on heads from Sussex.

Rob Yates swings wildly at a Fynn Hudson-Prentice delivery and gets an under edge on the ball which flashes past his stumps and away for four.

The next one also goes for four but this time it's a glorious shot guided away on the off side. Yates has 81 with 52 of them in boundaries.

It's a 50 partnership between Yates and Hamza Shaikh.

  11. 300 runs

300 for Tom Bantonpublished at 133 overs

    Somerset 553-5 (lead by 399 runs) v Worcs 154

Two fours swept off Tom Hinley's spin brings him to the brink after seven and a half hours of concentration at the crease and a dance down the wicket and a scuffed single to Brett D'Oliveira brings up the triple.

This has left his previous high score of 133 a distance back in the wing mirrors and he has become only the seventh Somerset player to reach the landmark and the first since James Hildreth (versus Warwickshire) in 2009.

  12. Postpublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 5 April

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 68-1

Matt Critchley has had a lively day for Essex - making a century and then shelling a simple catch off Ollie Pope.

He's on to bowl a bit of leg-spin now.

  13. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 5 April

    Northants 34-1 v Kent (Target 260)

It's classed as a drop, but it's a tough chance.

Nathan Gilchrist takes George Bartlett's outside edge and it flies low to Daniel Bell-Drummond at third slip.

He dives and sticks out a right paw, but it doesn't stick and the Northants batter takes two.

  14. Postpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 156-1 v Sussex 528

The shadows are lengthening at Edgbaston and Hamza Shaikh plays and misses at one from Fynn Hudson-Prentice.

That woke everyone up for a few seconds...

  15. 50 runs

50 for Jonny Bairstowpublished at 46 overs

    Yorks 142-3 & 121 (lead by 14 runs) v Hants 249

There was some risk taking early in order to get himself up and running but Bairstow has become more circumspect as he has gone on and has reached his half century in a sedate 92 deliveries.

Yorkshire have a lead of 14 and this partnership remains key to creating something they can attack in the second innings with the ball. Adam Lyth has reined in all his attacking instincts and is 31 from 87 balls at the other end.

The partnership is up to 138.

  16. Postpublished at 17:15 British Summer Time 5 April

    Northants 30-1 v Kent (Target 260)

Big, big appeal from Keith Dudgeon as he thuds one into the front pad of left-hander Luke Procter.

Just missing leg stump. Not out and good decision.

  17. 'It just changes the mood a little bit'published at 17:08 British Summer Time 5 April

    Somerset 531-5 (lead by 363 runs) v Worcs 154

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

It's been a fantastic partnership between James Rew and Tom Banton, Banton is still there.

It just changes the mood a little bit and puts a spring in the step of the Worcestershire players.

The celebrations were muted but they were tinged with relief as well I think.

They will hope they get another one because you always think when somebody's been sat there with his pads on for six-and-a-half hours, he's vulnerable early on.

  18. Postpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 5 April

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 63-1

Simon Harmer is pulling out all his variations but to little effect.

There are 19 overs to go in the day at Chelmsford and Surrey are not being overly troubled.

  19. 50 runs

50 partnershippublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 5 April

    Notts 208-2 v Durham 378

Joe Clarke opens the face again and runs Ben Raine down to the vacant third man area for three.

He moves to 24 and it brings up the fifty stand for the third wicket with Freddie McCann off just 70 balls.

  20. 150 runs

150 up for Warwickshirepublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 5 April

    Warks 151-1 v Sussex 528

Hamza Shaikh edges another one just short of Tom Clark in the slips but any threat to the batter is fleeting.

There's an excellent chance to get your season off to a good start if you just concentrate on this surface - Rob Yates cuts the ball away to the boundary.
