  1. Postpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 10 September

    Essex 433-7 v Durham 333

Doug Bracewell is playing positively, picking up a couple of boundaries and then moving to 12* from 10 balls with a single down the ground off Callum Parkinson, which takes the Essex lead into three figures.

Simon Harmer has a breezy 40* from 63 balls at the other end.

  2. Postpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 10 September

    Surrey 246 & 226-2 v Warwickshire 248

Dan Lawrence gets off the mark with a couple off Ethan Bamber while Ben Foakes punches beautifully down the ground off Michael Booth to start the second over of the session, finding the rope at long-off to reach 20*.

    The Surrey lead is 224.

  3. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Lord'spublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 10 September

    Middx 298 v Derbys 283 & 32-1

Play resumed at Lord's at 1.45pm with Harry Came out there at number three for Derbyshire, who lost Caleb Jewell just moments before rain forced an early lunch.

But just three overs are possible before the weather closes in again. This is starting to get annoying.

  4. Postpublished at 92 overs

    Leics 336-9 v Glos 482

Relief for Leicestershire as Chris Wright flips a ball from Ajeet Singh Dale over mid-on and it runs away for four.

The follow-on is avoided and the D2 leaders can relax a bit. They are still a long way behind, though.

  5. Postpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 10 September

    Essex 422-7 v Durham 333

Nine runs off Callum Parkinson's latest over, with Simon Harmer cracking two boundaries to move to 38* from 59 balls.

    Doug Bracewell has 2*.

The floodlights are on as the clouds close on Chelmsford.

    Essex lead by 89 runs.

  6. Pitch inspection postponedpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 10 September

    Kent 293 & 131-2 v Lancashire 284

As we feared... the returning rain means the 13:45 BST pitch inspection did not take place.

  7. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Worcester and a milestone for Jamespublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 10 September

    Notts 4-1 - target 136

We have a full compliment of covers coming on to the square and the skies are of the depressingly slate grey variety.

    It's not hammering down though.

We should mention that Lyndon James took five wickets in the Worcestershire second innings to set up the chase - and passed the tally of 100 first class wickets in the process.

He's now on 102 in his 68th match.

  8. 'This is extraordinary'published at 13:51 British Summer Time 10 September

    Leics 332-9 v Glos 482

    Richard Rae
    BBC Radio Leicester Sport

This is extraordinary, surely Leicestershire can't make a horlicks of this now?

Surely not, from 320-4 to 332-9.

I think Gloucestershire will certainly enforce and it is now very much an alive option.

  9. Play resumes at The Ovalpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 10 September

    Surrey 246 & 219-2 v Warwickshire 248

Some people are on the pitch... and they're not ground staff, they are wearing whites.

Ben Foakes and Dan Lawrence head out to try to build on the 217-run lead given to them by half-centuries for Rory Burns, Dom Sibley and Ollie Pope.

Sibley retired not out on 64 due to a soft tissue injury, which brought Foakes (15*) to the crease. Lawrence is yet to score from three balls.

Ethan Bamber will bowl the opening over of the afternoon.

  10. Postpublished at 91 overs

    Leics 332-9 v Glos 482

So close. Josh Hull wafts uncertainly at Matt Taylor's final ball of that over and it just misses the outside edge.

  11. Play resumes at Northamptonpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 10 September

    Glamorgan 467 v Northants 309-5

We're back for the first ball of a delayed Day Three.

Aadi Sharma is on strike and ready to face his first ball, to be bowled by Mason Crane.

Crane removed Justin Broad just before the close last night.

Saif Zaib is at the non striker's end on 76 not out.

Zaib has over 1100 first class runs to his name for Northants this season with an average of more than 65. So that's handy.

WICKETpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 10 September

    Thain c McKinney b Potts 24 - Essex 410-7 v Durham 333

What a catch from Ben McKinney, diving to his right at slip to send Noah Than on his way after pushing at a fine ball from Matt Potts.

It breaks a 50-stand with Simon Harmer.

Essex lead by 77 but now have just three wickets remaining.

Doug Bracewell is the new batter.

  13. rain stops play

Rain stops play at New Roadpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 10 September

    Notts 4-1 - target 136

Runs! Freddie McCann goes hard at the ball outside off stump facing Tom Taylor and a flashing drives skims the ball through cover for four.

Is there a bit of drizzle in the air? Afraid so.

McCann blocks the next ball into the off side and we're off for rain.

    Oh well.

  14. Five-wicket haul for Matt Taylorpublished at 90.1 overs

    Mike c Bracey b M Taylor 1 (Leics 332-9 v Glos 482)

Leicestershire STILL need one run to avoid the prospect of being asked to follow on.

Ben Mike is caught in two minds and a thin edge results in an easy catch for the keeper and Matt Taylor's eighth five-for in first-class cricket.

Josh Hull is in at number 11. Under pressure?

  15. Postpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 10 September

    Notts 0-1 - target 136

Two balls left in the over and it's an awkward leave at the last moment, followed by a play and miss defending from Freddie McCann to see it out.

Khurram Shahzad starts his second over now.

Ben Slater tries to work a full ball away leg side but there's no run.

Shahzad tightens his line and Slater blocks down the ground.

Notts one down and without a run in four overs.

  16. Postpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 10 September

    Essex 406-6 v Durham 333

Callum Parkinson is on with his slow left-arm spin, replacing Sam Conners, and Simon Harmer cracks him through mid-wicket for four to bring up the 400 and move to 28* from 50 balls with a couple through the covers and then another two to deep square.

A wan sun peeps out at Chelmsford, but this feels like the calm amid the storms.

    The Essex lead is 73.

  17. 'Lovely delivery from Taylor'published at 13:43 British Summer Time 10 September

    Notts 0-1 - target 136

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

That was a lovely delivery from Tom Taylor, the stumps were out of the ground.

Haseeb Hameed has had a terrific season with the bat but he's not been able to add to it here at New Road.

Taylor has cleaned bowled him twice in the match.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 89.3 overs

Van Beek lbw Singh Dale 1 (Leics 332-8 v Glos 482)

Gloucestershire absolutely 'on the money' since lunch.

There goes another one as Ajeet Singh Dale beats Logan van Beek for pace and has him leg before. The umpire took his time there, just to make sure.

The Division Two leaders still need one more run to ensure no possibility of having to follow on.

  19. Play to resume at 13:50 BSTpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 10 September

    Surrey 246 & 219-2 v Warwickshire 248

The sun is out, the covers are off and we'll have play in just over 10 minutes at The Oval.

There's a ring of heavy rain around the M25, but central London is spared, for now.

Can Surrey kick-on when they get back out there?

  20. wicket

    Hameed b Taylor 0 (Notts 0-1 - target 136)

    Tom TaylorImage source, Getty Images

Worcestershire have been in danger of a slow over rate since the end of the Notts first innings and the fielders are rushing into position.

Haseeb Hameed is nearly beaten by a full, brisk ball from Tom Taylor and jabs the bat down just in time.

Out! The Notts skipper goes for a pair!

Full, straightening, beating a defensive bat and knocking out off stump.

    Freddie McCann is in now.
