Off we go again. Another sharp shower floats over Kennington.

Dan Lawrence has 29* and Ben Foakes has moved to 41* to take the Surrey lead to 274, 57 more than it was at the start of play this morning.

  2. 'Longer Surrey stay out there the better for them'published at 14:50 British Summer Time

    Surrey 246 & 276-2 v Warwickshire 248

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

What this does is take a bit of time out of tomorrow where Surrey would have to come out and bat in the morning I would have thought.

So, the longer the Surrey can stay out there then the better from their perspective in many ways.

Ben Foakes and Dan Lawrence are a nice partnership in that Foakes will tick along at his pace where as Lawrence - we've already seen him walk down the pitch and go over at extra cover.

Ed Barnard had had a very good game and a very good season for Warwickshire.

  3. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Chelmsfordpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time

    Essex 457-8 v Durham 333

15 balls is all they lasted before Mother Nature had her wicked way once again.

Shane Snater rattled nine runs and Doug Bracewell advanced to 22* to take the Essex lead to 124, but this is all very frustrating.

  4. Postpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time

    Glamorgan 467 v Northants 383-8

James Harris is sharing the new ball with Timm van der Gugten and deep cover is coming in for Saif Zaib.

Down the track and a slightly miscued and lofted drive to deep extra cover for one.

Ben Whitehouse has one ball to face.

He's back on his stumps to defend safely into short leg.

  5. Postpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time

    Surrey 246 & 270-2 v Warwickshire 248

Ollie Hannon-Dalby has a face like the sky after angling in a leg stump yorker which thumps Ben Foakes on the ankle.

Big appeal for lbw but the umpire thinks it's sliding down leg, and he is probably right.

  6. Women's One-Day Cup updatepublished at 14:45 British Summer Time

    #bbccricket

Warwickshire reached 283-7 off their 50 overs against Lancashire with Abigail Freeborn top scoring with 60.

But the rain is falling in Sale, only two overs into the home side's reply, although they are carrying on for now.

The match in Beckenham between Surrey and Essex is reduced to 45 overs per side, but Surrey have smashed 313-5 in their innings.

Emma Jones hit 141 and Alice Davidson-Richards 107, with both scoring at more than a run-a-ball.

Bad news from Utilita Bowl though, as the match between Hampshire and Somerset has been abandoned.

    Surrey 246 & 267-2 v Warwickshire 248

Ed Barnard is thrown the ball for the first time today and stems the flow of boundaries at least.

Dan Lawrence has 26* with Ben Foakes 13 shy of a half-century.

The hosts lead by 265 and have the game where they want it, with at least seven wickets in hand, depending on Dom Sibley's ability to return after retiring earlier.

  8. Postpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time

    Essex 457-8 v Durham 333

Shane Snater is here for a good time.

He smashes Callum Parkinson's spin down the ground for his second boundary and Essex's lead is 124.

  9. new ball

New ball taken at Northamptonpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time

    Northants 382-8 v Glam 467

Taken after 82 overs, so a couple of overs after it was available.

The floodlights are coming on and Timm van der Gugten is going to bowl to Ben Whitehouse, who remember is on his first class debut.

  10. Back under way at Chelmsfordpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time

    Essex 451-8 v Durham 333

    Good news.

The limping Shane Snater thick-edges his second ball behind backward point for a boundary to bring up the Essex 450.

Doug Bracwell has 21* at the other end.

In theory there are 55 overs remaining in the day. If we get half of those in that would be wonderful.

  11. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time

    Surrey 246 & 262-2 v Warwickshire 248

Dan Lawrence gets down low to sweep a length ball from Ollie Hannon-Dalby, who is back into the attack for the first time this afternoon, for four.

Ben Foakes gets some luck with a huge inside edge which flashes past his stumps and away to fine leg for four to end the over.

He has 33* with Lawrence 25* from 32 balls.

    The lead is 260.

  12. 6 runs

Zaib goes for glorypublished at 14:35 British Summer Time

    Northants 378-8 v Glam 467

Saif Zaib keeps the strike with a single to fine leg off Mason Crane.

Will Glamorgan take the second new ball? No.

Kiran Carlson will continue to bowl his off breaks with the field set deep.

But there's no stopping this shot!

Zaib is down on on knee to sweep over square leg for six.

It's getting dark and blustery here.

We might not be playing for much longer.

  13. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time

    Surrey 246 & 253-2 v Warwickshire 248

Ben Foakes gets in on the boundary fun with a lovely off-drive off Ethan Bamber which finds the fence.

Three straight singles follow to take the Surrey lead to 250 with Dan Lawrence moving to 20* with a leg-side clip off the final ball of the over. Foakes is now on 29*.

  14. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Leicesterpublished at 4 overs

    Leics 342 v Glos 482 & 8-0

Rain at LeicesterImage source, Rex Features

The umpires confer and moments later a heavy shower begins, forcing the protagonists to scurry to the sanctuary of the dressing rooms.

Following their second innings collapse, Leicestershire can take no more than 12 points from this game, assuming it ends in a draw.

But that may be enough for promotion if the game between Middlesex and Derbyshire also ends in a draw. We say that, though, with limited confidence - please check our arithmetic.

  15. Postpublished at 14:31 British Summer Time

    Surrey 246 & 245-2 v Warwickshire 248

What a glorious shot from Dan Lawrence, driving Michael Booth uppishly through the covers to the rope, giving the sweeper no chance of cutting it off.

His second four to go with a six and he has 18* from 27 deliveries.

    Surrey lead by 243.

  16. 'Foakes and Lawrence need to keep scoreboard ticking'published at 14:29 British Summer Time

    Surrey 246 & 245-2 v Warwickshire 248

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

I don't think Ben Foakes and Dan Lawrence need to be too hung up about what they need to do, other than to just bat positively and try and keep the scoreboard ticking reasonably well.

  17. INSPECTION AT 2:45 AT NEW ROADpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time

    Notts 4-1 - target 136

Don't give up on this one just yet.

  18. Postpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time

    Surrey 246 & 240-2 v Warwickshire 248

Just a single for Ben Foakes off the latest Michael Booth over, nudging the Surrey lead up to 238.

He has 22* from 46 balls with Dan Lawrence on 14* from 25.

  19. 100 runs

100 for Saif Zaibpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time

    Glamorgan 467 v Northants 364-8

A ring of seven fielders are up to save the single. Zaib is on 99.

    Mason Crane bowls...

Down the track and driven for four! What a season he has had.

136 balls with 17 fours in all.

That's his sixth first class hundred in 19 innings this summer.

  20. Postpublished at 14:25 British Summer Time

    Somerset 441-6 dec v Yorks

Maybe there will be more action at Taunton today.

The groundstaff are removing the covers from one side of the square.

Tea will be taken at 3pm in the hope of starting after that.
