Joe Root is struggling in The Hundred this year.

He had scores of six, 20 and 27 in their first three games and he's out for six here again.

He clips Jordan Thompson to Leus du Plooy at mid-wicket to give Southern Brave a key early breakthrough.

    The dangerous Hayley Matthews departs!

The Fire opener looks to take the aerial route through the leg side but can only pick out Phoebe Franklin at deep square.

Amanda-Jade Wellington has her first wicket of the game and it's a crucial one.

It was looking like a much better set for Invincibles from left-armer Sophia Smale.

She gives away just one run from her first four balls but Hayley Matthews nails the final delivery for a four past square leg.

A nightmare five deliveries for Rachel Slater. Four runs from four balls.

  5. Fire 30-0published at 85 balls left

    Need 121 more

Medium pacer Rachel Slater, playing her first game of this season's Hundred, is into the attack for Invincibles and completely fails to find her rhythm here.

Sophia Dunkley plays her first ball to the boundary with a well-timed square cut and then straight drives the following delivery for the same result.

Slater's set goes from bad to worse as Dunkley gets two more boundaries from the final two balls.

This is going to be a big five balls for Oval Invincibles. Rachel Slater coming in for Ryana MacDonald-Gay. When you have a new bowler coming in, you want to put them under pressure which is exactly what Sophia Dunkley is doing.

  7. Banton gets Rockets off to quick startpublished at 95 balls remaining

Men's competition: Trent Rockets 14-0 v Southern Brave (target 141)

No messing around from Tom Banton as he hits three boundaries in the first set.

There's a flick off the pads for four before a reverse sweep for four and then six. Class shots.

That was all timing from Hayley Matthews. Using that new ball, she stands up on her toes. Cracks it through point with good balance and a good eye. Letting the ball do the work.

    That's a sight to behold!

Hayley Matthews gets going with a boundary from Marizanne Kapp's second ball and then plays a lovely straight drive that beats the fielder at mid-on for back-to-back fours.

The West Indies star has scored 22 and 26 in her previous two Hundred innings. Fire will want her to get a big one today if they are to get their first win here.

Marizanne Kapp comes back well after that boundary and concedes just two more from the remainder of her first set.

And the South African will bowl five more on the trot here.

Contrasting starts for the two teams. A brilliant hook shot into the onside from Sophia Dunkley into the boundary.

A brilliant start from Sophia Dunkley!

She pulls Marizanne Kapp's first ball to the boundary - almost effortlessly put away by the Fire opener.

Kapp v Matthews is a huge match-up - the South African has got the Welsh Fire batter out 12 times in Hundred/T20 cricket, the most of any bowler.

Sophia Dunkley and Hayley Matthews will open the batting for Welsh Fire.

And Marizanne Kapp has the ball in her hand.

Welsh Fire have really been struggling with the bat throughout this series so far, so I think Oval Invinicibles have a really good on the board.

Someone from Welsh Fire's first four batters is going to have to come out and get those runs, but if I was playing for Oval Invincibles I would be really confident going into this second innings.

We have already had a result in The Hundred today.

Welsh Fire should have a level of comfort from that innings. Now they know that even if they get a few dot balls or Oval Invincibles have a good couple of sets, instead of taking the risk they can play the long game.

Their top three are good enough that once they get in, they will catch back up to that required run-rate.

    Thanks, Tim.

Oval Invincibles have posted a decent total on the board.

Now, all eyes turn to Welsh Fire. Can they rise up to the challenge?

Let's find out, as the chase is coming up very shortly.

Leus du Plooy top-scores with 55 off 34 balls and James Coles ends up 25 not out from 18 balls.

Marcus Stoinis was the pick of the Rockets' bowlers taking 2-18 from 15 balls.
