That was a really good contest in that set. There was some good reverse paddles and the shift in speed from Ecclestone.

Ecclestone went a little bit slower and got the batters to think a little bit differently about this surface with that missed stumping from Beth Mooney.

  2. Spirit 40-2published at 60 balls left

    83 runs needed

A tidy little reverse sweep from Kira Chathli, sending Sophie Ecclestone's delivery fine behind the keeper for four.

The opener then tries a big heave into the leg side and hits thin air, but Beth Mooney doesn't collect cleanly behind the stumps and misses out on a marginal stumping opportunity.

Good start from the Originals. Gaur put in a good shift in the powerplay. With the shape that she was getting, it made sense to keep her on.

And the Originals still have Dani Gregory and Fi Morris to come.

Oooh, that's just short of the bowler.

Kira Chathli chips one back at Deandra Dottin off the bottom of her bat, with the ball landing just in front of the veteran's hands as she tried to take the catch above the turf.

A couple more singles bring us to the end of Dottin's five, and Spirit call a strategic time-out.

    Here's the dangerous Grace Harris.

The big-hitting Australian clobbered an unbeaten 89 in the season opener against Northern Superchargers (see video above), before scoring 18 against Welsh Fire last time out.

She starts with two dots before taking a single square.

You have to play Melie Kerr like she is going to bowl every ball as a googly at you. It went in towards Dani Gibson and she had no idea about it.

    Two wickets in three balls!

Melie Kerr has a wicket with her second delivery, offering plenty of flight and bamboozling new batter Dani Gibson.

A googly, past the bat and onto the stumps - Originals in the ascendancy.

Mahika Gaur deserved that. She has bowled really nicely.

Gaur went back of her length but it was wider and Redmayne had to reach for it. She will be disappointed with that.

  9. wicket

    Redmayne c Kerr b Gaur 11 (Spirit 27-1)

    Squirted to cover!

Georgia Redmayne had just pulled Mahika Gaur for four, but she departs from the last ball of the powerplay.

The Australian throws her hands a little at the delivery and sends the ball flying straight to Mahika Gaur.

  10. dropped catch

Chatli dropped on ninepublished at 78 balls left

    Spirit 20-0

    Tough chance!

Kira Chatli lashes Mahika Gaur out to fine leg, where Alice Monaghan perhaps slightly misjudges the trajectory and has to try to take the catch falling back towards the boundary.

She can't hold on and the ball runs onto the rope for four.

A lovely bit of batting from Georgia Redmayne. She used the pace of Ecclestone really well in that set.

A slightly slow start however from the London side, not many runs on the board.

  13. Spirit 16-0published at 80 balls left

    Squeezed between two fielders!

Georgia Redmayne works Sophie Ecclestone's second delivery through the ring at point for her first four.

The Australian opener has scores of a duck and 11 so far in this tournament.

  14. Spirit 12-0published at 85 balls left

    111 runs needed

The rest of Bryce's set is a little calmer, with three more singles coming from it.

And now here comes England spinner Sophie Ecclestone, ranked number four in the world in the shortest format of the game.

    A bit less quiet now!

Kathryn Bryce's first delivery sits up very nicely for Kira Chathli, and she dispatches it through the covers for the first boundary of the innings.

A brilliant start from Manchester Originals. The ball is swinging and they need to be taking advantage of that.

Gaur bowled lovely lines and lengths. It will be interesting to see how they go about their bowling attack; I'd be tempted to bring Gaur back on soon.

  17. Spirit 5-0published at 90 balls left

    118 runs needed

Another tidy five deliveries from the 19-year-old Mahika Gaur.

Three more singles - it's a quiet start to the powerplay for London Spirit.

Lovely bowling from Mahika Gaur. She has struggled with injuries in the last year or so but it is good to see her back out there.

  19. Spirit 2-0published at 95 balls left

    121 runs needed

Originals' towering left-armer seamer Mahika Gaur takes the first five balls.

She starts with a couple of dot balls before the Spirit batters work a couple of singles.

Gaur is going to continue with a second five balls...

This won't be easy for London Spirit, however it only takes Grace Harris about 20 balls to take the game away from a team.

It seems pretty even stevens at this halfway point especially with the bowling side that Manchester Originals have.
