You just felt like something was going to happen. Smale was getting frustrated after getting so many dot balls.

The ball stayed too low and she tried to hit it into the off side. Every batter has a breaking point and she is just a bit too inexperienced.

    Smale b Glenn 5 (Originals 46-4)

This one is out though! Straight and at the stumps again. Seren Smale goes back but an under edge only diverts the ball onto her timbers.

The Originals are in all sorts of trouble now.

Seren Smale is struggling. She is young and inexperienced and you get the feeling she may try a reverse sweep and be struck on the pads lbw.

    That review was lucky.

    Typical. It's missing leg stump.

It's still a straight line, in fairness. Rufus knows his onions.

  5. Spirit reviewpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time

Well was this one hitting the stumps as Rufus mentions?

Sarah Glenn calls for an lbw review against Seren Smale.

41% of Sarah Glenn’s deliveries this competition have been at the stumps - no other wrist spinner comes close to bowling as straight as her.

What she has in accuracy, she does however lack in movement off the surface. She finds just 0.9° of spin on average. Amanda-Jade Wellington for example, finds 4.0° of spin on average, the most of any wrist spinner.

West Indies international Deandra Dottin, another player her former team, is going to have to mount a rebuild from here.

Such a big wicket for Spirit. Beth Mooney was just finding a flow after some nice boundaries. She timed it perfectly to Tara Norris.

Sometimes your strength can be your downfall.

    Mooney c Norris b Dean 26 (Originals 45-3)

A horrible way to get out and a huge moment!

Spirit skipper Charlie Dean lobs one down the leg side, Beth Mooney chases it with a sweep but puts it straight into the hands of short fine leg.

With Mooney out, the Originals are in trouble.

This foundation will allow Smale to settle a bit now. She doesn't have as much pressure on her as she did when she came in.

A nice back of length ball from Glenn and it was pulled into the leg-side nicely. Those are the ones you want from a spinner.

    Mooney 26, Smale 5

Beth Mooney goes down town this time, nearly taking the umpire's head off as she hits Sarah Glenn for four.

Seren Smale joins the party too. The 20-year-old rocks back to pull her first boundary to the mid-wicket fence.

We always talk about how quickly this game can change. Originals have a little bit of a platform to build from now.

It will be interesting to see some more spin now from Sarah Glenn.

England leggie Sarah Glenn is straight into the attack with the powerplay done...

Four leg byes now! Eva Gray's bowling was far too leg-side through that set of five.

Things suddenly look better for the hosts now.

That first boundary should have only been a single but Mooney is finding her groove. She will help herself all-day. All she needs is some kind of bat on it.

Anytime you get a run-out it is a no-no for a batting side but Originals still have time to turn this around.

Three in a row for Beth Mooney. The Originals have turned up... finally!

And Eva Gray's second ball is swung for four over short fine leg's head too.

Four to Beth Mooney on the pull, helped by a misfield on the boundary by Dani Gibson.

Beth Mooney is playing against here former team here, of course. She averaged 51.25 for the Spirit in 2022.

New batter Seren Smale, who played for England on that tour of Ireland last year as part of a depleted squad, cannot get off the mark from her first three balls.

That is what Mooney was looking for. Norris didn't quite get her shape right and Mooney does not miss chances like that.

The skipper will have to lead the way for her team now.
