  1. Close of play at Canterburypublished at 17:22 British Summer Time

    Kent 393 v Gloucestershire 472 & 112-2

No play possible after tea at the Spitfire Ground where rain forces the umpires to call an early halt to proceedings.

Gloucestershire will start day four with a lead of 191 and unless they can press on rapidly in the morning with a view to a declaration, it's hard to see this ending in anything other than a draw.

Ben Charlesworth made 58 for the visitors but the batting star on day three was Kent opener Ben Compton, who batted for over 400 minutes for his 178.

  2. 300 runs

400 up for Leicestershirepublished at 17:16 British Summer Time

    Lancs 263 v Leics 401-6

The 400 is up for Leicestershire at Old Trafford as they move into a 138 run lead against their hosts Lancashire.

Peter Handscomb remains at the crease 105 not out.

  3. 150 runs

up for Worcestershirepublished at 17:15 British Summer Time

    Worcs 150-5 - target 295

Jamie Porter overpitches and Matthew Waite finds the mid-wicket boundary before adding a single to take the total up to 150. Over half-way to the target now. There are 21 scheduled overs remaining.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:15 British Summer Time

    Kellaway lbw b Roland-Jones 0 (Middx 470-9d v Glamorgan 199 & 148-5)

And another... he's on a hat trick.... which is kept out by Chris Cooke.

But that is a huge breakthrough over from the Middlesex captain with Glamorgan still trailing by 123 runs and only five wickets still standing.

  5. Postpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time

    Warwicks 93 & 89-3 v Notts 387

An extravagant attempt at a heave-ho over long-on from Warwickshire's Dan Mousley completely misses the ball and almost sees him clean bowled.

If he'd connected with that, I think it would have gone for an eight!

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time

    Ingram b Roland-Jones 19 (Middx 470-9d v Glamorgan 199 and 148-4)

That is sweet for Middlesex on several levels.

Firstly, Ingram had edged between keeper and first slip in the previous over on 14 off the bowling Higgins.

Second it was Ingram who is a key bat for Glamorgan.

And thirdly it was a beauty, beating Ingram's misaligned defences and clipping the top of off.

  7. 'Could we still be playing if we had a pink ball?'published at 17:13 British Summer Time

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 103-1 - bad light stopped play

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

We all want to start a four-day game knowing there will be a result. We want to see some good cricket over the four days and whoever wins, wins and that's fine.

I just think in this situation we could play if we went to a pink ball. It might be to Somerset's detriment because they look pretty happy out there, they don't really look like getting out.

Over a season you'd hope it evens itself out but at least we keep playing cricket and we don't have this situation where yes it's gloomy but actually could we still be playing if we had a pink ball?

  8. Postpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time

    Worcs 145-5 - target 295

Essex are testing the Worcestershire batsmen out with an occasional short delivery now.

No major alarms for the Pears, though, and Brett D'Oliveira square cuts Kasun Rajitha for four to advance to 29 not out.

You start to wonder whether it's soon going to be Simon Harmer time again. Or perhaps Matt Critchley, who has yet to turn his arm over in this game.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time

    Cox c Wells b Mahmood 31 (Lancs 263 v Leics 397-6)

Ben Cox pulls a short ball from Saqib Mahmood and it goes straight to Luke Wells on the boundary who manages to deal with some low south Manchester sunshine to catch comfortably.

Peter Handscomb races through for a single to reach his century for Leicestershire in the Manchester sunshine following a superb innings!

Handscomb's ton has come off 170 balls and has included 10 fours.

His side are now 132 runs ahead of Lancashire with five wickets still remaining.

  11. 'Spinners operating doesn't really suit' Hampshirepublished at 17:03 British Summer Time

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 103-1 - bad light stops play

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

I think what was going on there was that Hampshire were going to bring on a quick bowler in order to force the suspension of play on the grounds that coming back on with the spinners operating doesn't really suit them at the moment.

They'd sooner be off and wait until they can get their seam attack going and get in amongst the wickets.

At the moment they are allowing Somerset to get nearer to eliminating the deficit without any realistic chance of picking up wickets.

  12. Postpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time

    Worcs 137-5 - target 295

    Kasun Rajitha returns for Essex.

He's slightly quicker than Jamie Porter and Shane Snater and appeals for lbw against Brett D'Oliveira, but that is surely missing leg.

    He starts with a maiden.

  13. Bad light stops playpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 103-1

Oh dear, here we go again.

Hampshire, who haven't threatened a second wicket with their two spinners, want to put a seamer back into the attack - a request which is denied by the umpires following a short conversation.

Spin didn't suit the hosts, and in fact they were allowing Somerset the chance to whittle down the deficit rather comfortably, and the players are going back off the field for bad light for the second time today.

  14. 50 runs

for Caleb Jewellpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time

    Derbys 307 & 105-2 v Northants 500-8 dec

    Caleb JewellImage source, Rex Features

Five Championship innings for Derbyshire - five half-centuries. Not bad.

Caleb Jewell reaches his latest off 68 balls by pulling Dom Leech for four.

Can he convert this into his first three-figure score for the county?

  15. Postpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time

    Worcs 137-5 - target 295

We haven't had many boundaries of late at Chelmsford, but there's one for Matthew Waite to extra cover - the first of his innings - off Shane Snater.

Snater tries him out with a bouncer and the batsman gloves it over the keeper for another boundary.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:56 British Summer Time

    Came lbw Leech 27 (Derbys 307 & 100-2 v Northants 500-8 dec)

A setback for Derbyshire as Harry Came is trapped on the crease and leg-before to Dom Leech.

Came put on 63 with Caleb Jewell, who has now been joined by captain Wayne Madsen. The home side trail by 93.

  17. 'Hain's strength was his downfall'published at 16:54 British Summer Time

    Warwicks 93 & 77-3 v Notts 367

    Grace Ballinger
The Blaze bowler on BBC Radio Nottingham

That was a big, big wicket Sam Hain has looked good so far.

His strength was his downfall, he got tempted again outside off stump and he nicked it through to the keeper.

  18. 100 up for Somersetpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 100-1

A single from Tom Lammonby means Somerset are in to triple figures.

The visitors still trail Hampshire by 53 runs.

  19. Postpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time

    Worcs 129-5 - target 295

Matthew Waite is given the hurry-up by the final ball of Shane Snater's latest over, which lifts off the pitch and he can do no more than fend it off.

Brett D'Oliveira clips the first ball of the next from Jamie Porter into the gap at mid-wicket and takes two.

  20. PLAY RESUMES AT HAMPSHIREpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 91-1

Some good news to tell you about.

We are back under way at The Utilita Bowl after bad light delayed the restart to the final session of day three between Hampshire and Somerset.
