  1. Postpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 20 April

    Warwicks 93 & 57-2 v Notts 367

We are back underway in the final session of day three at Edgbaston.

Warwickshire's Sam Hain smacks the second ball after tea for four on the back foot to get off the mark.

  2. 'Big ask' for Worcestershirepublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 20 April

    Worcs 124-5 - target 295

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

For the second time today Worcestershire lost a crucial wicket just before an interval to maintain Essex’s increasing grip on this match.

Kashif Ali was the man to go shortly before tea, edging Simon Harmer to slip after constructing a fine counter-attacking 50 with nine fours.

Worcestershire really needed him to convert that into a century to have a hope of reaching 295.

As it is they are now reliant on Brett D’Oliviera and Matthew Waite, who have just resumed after tea. Both looked good in the first innings but this is a big ask for the visitors.

  3. Resumption delayed at Hampshirepublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 20 April

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 91-1

Bad news in Southampton as bad light has delayed the restart to the final session of day three between Hampshire and Somerset - with the visitors still trailing by 61 runs.

We will let you know if we get back underway at The Utilita Bowl but, at the moment, it is looking unlikely.

  4. Resumption delayed at Canterburypublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 393 v Gloucestershire 472 & 112-2

The light has deteriorated over tea at the Spitfire Ground so we will have to wait for the re-start - in fact, it has now started raining.

Gloucestershire lead by 191 with Ollie Price and Miles Hammond the not out pair.

  5. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 20 April

    Lancs 263 v Leics 354-5

It is also tea at Old Trafford and it is Leicestershire who are in charge of their Division Two clash against Lancashire.

Peter Handscomb remains unbeaten on 81 following a fourth-wicket partnership of 130 with Lewis Hill, who impressed with 64.

They lead by 91 runs with five wickets still in hand ahead of the final session on day three.

WICKETpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 20 April

    Northeast lbw b Paterson 4 (Middx 470-9d v Glamorgan 199 & 108-3)

That has hit him on the back pad with only height or an inside edge capable of saving him.

Replays would appear to show there was no nick and height was probably okay so Dane Paterson has a wicket and Glamorgan lose a third.

  7. Lawrence 'bludgeons' Sussex attackpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 20 April

    Sussex 435 v Surrey 378-3 - tea

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A session completely dominated by Surrey who have added 162 in just 32 overs, and are in arrears by just 57 with another 38 overs still to be bowled today.

After Ollie Pope have completed a classy century, enter Dan Lawrence who bludgeoned the Sussex attack all around Hove

His hundred came in just 92 balls including six sixes, and together with Ben Foakes has added 141 for the 4th wicket.

This is still an excellent pitch and Surrey will be hoping to establish a substantial lead and put Sussex under pressure tomorrow

  8. Tea at Derbypublished at 16:14 British Summer Time 20 April

    Derbys 307 & 78-1 v Northants 500-8 dec

Very much a batsman's day at Derby, where Luke Procter and Saif Zaib hit centuries for Northamptonshire before the declaration came during the afternoon session.

Procter made 150 and Zaib 105, and Justin Broad weighed in by hitting 46 off 27 balls in a stand of 85 in nine overs with the latter.

Derbyshire lost David Lloyd in the right over of their second innings but Caleb Jewell and Harry Came saw it through to tea, which arrived with the home side still 115 behind.

  9. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 179 & 317 v Worcestershire 202 & 124-5

The dismissal of Kashif Ali in the penultimate over of the afternoon, bowled by Simon Harmer, has put Essex on course for a three-day victory at Chelmsford.

Set 295 to win, Worcestershire needed a good start, but lost Gareth Roderick to the second ball of the innings.

Wickets have continued to fall at regular intervals and much now depends on skipper Brett D'Oliveira - who is 20 not out - if they are to get anywhere close to this target.

  10. Tea at Chester-le Streetpublished at 16:10 British Summer Time 20 April

    Durham 427 v Yorks 307 & 32-1 (trail by 88 runs)

Just the one breakthrough for the hosts with Yorkshire taking as few risks as possible after being put back in.

The deficit remains 88 with nine wickets still in tact but the run rate (under two and over) suggests Yorks are not about to chance losing the draw in an effort to force the game.

Adam Lyth with 20 in 43 balls and James Wharton with 3 from 24 are the blockers in situ.

  11. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 20 April

    Warwicks 93 & 53-2 v Notts 367

Warwickshire reach tea 53-2, still trailing Nottinghamshire by 221 runs.

Hamza Shaikh is 15 not out while Sam Hain remains scoreless at the crease.

We still have 41 overs remaining today at Edgbaston with the visitors in total control of this one.

  12. Tea at Hovepublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 20 April

    Sussex 435 v Surrey 378-3 (trail by 57 runs)

A session lit up by Dan Lawrence who leaves for a cuppa unbeaten on 105.

Yes, he had a bit of luck in that he was dropped on 35 off Ollie Robinson but he gas more than made use of the life with some scintillating stroke-play to move to a first century of his season.

In company with Ben Foakes (47*) the Surrey all-rounder has added 141 for the fourth wicket and moved the champions to within sight of parity.

  13. 50 runs

50 up for Warwickspublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 20 April

    Warwicks 93 & 53-2 v Notts 367

Two glorious straight drives in as many balls from Hamza Shaikh suggests he's in the mood to give Nottinghamshire a harder task of this one than they might have thought following that wicket of Rob Yates.

50 up for Warwickshire - they still trail by 221 runs with eight second-innings wickets remaining.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 20 April

    Ali c Cox b Harmer 50 (Worcs 119-5 - target 295)

What a great thinking bowler Simon Harmer is.

After an off-break lobs up to slip via Kashif Ali's pad, the next one is slightly wider and flatter, the Worcestershire batsman pushes at it and Jordan Cox snaffles the edge.

    Essex big favourites now.

  15. 50 runs

for Kashif Alipublished at 15:59 British Summer Time 20 April

    Essex 179 & 317 v Worcs 202 & 117-4

Kashif Ali's 50 arrives from 86 balls with a push to mid-wicket for one.

It's been a fine innings thus far and has given his side some hope of being able to chase down this target.

  16. Postpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 20 April

    Worcs 116-4 - target 295

Essex increasing the pressure with tea approaching.

Kasun Rajitha keeps Kashif Ali on 49 with a maiden and another one follows as spinner Simon Harmer comes into the attack.

  17. Tea at Canterburypublished at 15:57 British Summer Time 20 April

    Kent 393 v Glos 472 & 112-2

Gloucestershire reach tea with a lead of 191 over Kent, with Ollie Price 21 not out and Miles Hammond on nine.

Kent were all out for 393 immediately before lunch after a superb innings of 178 by opener Ben Compton.

But Ben Charlesworth (58) and Cameron Bancroft (22) began the reply with an opening stand of 71 and the visitors certainly look the more likely winners at this stage.

    Yates c Verreynne b Tongue 26 (Warwicks 93 & 45-2 v Notts 367)

    Big wicket just before tea!

Rob Yates can not believe it.

A strangler down the leg side from Josh Tongue is his downfall, tickling the ball down to Kyle Verreynne and the South African wicket-keeper makes a simple take.

Both of Warwickshire's openers are now back in the pavillion.

  19. 100 runs

100 for Lawrencepublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 20 April

    Sussex 435 v Surrey 370-3 (trail by 65 runs)

This has been a terrific knock from Dan Lawrence and even if that is a sketchy way to reach it his century has lit up the day.

The Surrey batsman has taken a swing at Ollie Robinson and an edge has looped through the vacant area between first and third slip to the third man boundary.

Do not be fooled though. His 102 in 92 balls with eight fours and six sixes has really dragged a Surrey win back into the equation.

The champions are going to be up beyond Sussex's first innings score soon enough and applying a bit of scoreboard pressure before the end of day three.

  20. Bad light stops playpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 20 April

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 91-1

The players have been called off and bad light has, unfortunately, stopped play.

Early tea is being taken but I would be surprised if we see more action at The Utilita Bowl today.
