Summary

  1. Eng 329-4published at 69 overs

    Here comes the England skipper.

Stokes defends the final two balls of Seales' over.

Will he give himself time to get his eye in, or start swinging from the off?

If Jayden Seales can bowl that channel and that length for a long period of time, then you can fill the slip cordon.

Now instead of building pressure for three or four balls, he needs to do it for two or three overs, or more.

Little bit of width, nicely taken by the keeper and Seales is delighted.

Brook went fishing for it. What an innings and what a promising player he is. He's going to score a stack of runs for England.

Oh, where did that come from?

Jayden Seales returns to the attack in place of Holder and his fourth ball is a little wide. Brook goes reaching for it without much footwork and offers an edge that is gathered by Joshua Da Silva behind the stumps.

A fine innings from Brook, but he'll be disappointed to get out to a bit of a nothing shot when he looked set to make a really big score.

England have continued to pile on the runs this morning.

Harry Brook has reached his fifth Test century, and first in England.

Here are his best shots. Enjoy.

The best way to describe Harry Brook: uncomplicated.

He sees the ball and he hits it. Bang.

  7. Eng 327-3published at 68 overs

A cheaper second over from Sinclair, five runs from it.

Meanwhile this partnership, currently worth 187, is now England's best fourth wicket effort at Trent Bridge.

The pitch is a little slower, there are no demons in it. Hard to take wickets but harder for strokeplay too.

West Indies are caught in two minds. They want wickets, they need wickets but they're not able to create any pressure.

They need to decide if they want to go all out attack or all out defence. They're doing neither at the minute.

Just a turn of the wrists from Joe Root and far too fine for the fielder to get to.

  10. Eng 322-3published at 67 overs

Joe Root turns Jason Holder around the corner for four at fine leg, before picking up a couple of twos later in the over.

Nineteen runs from the last twelve balls.

It was almost like Brook didn't rate it. He just crashed it away over the off side.

I'm sort of amazed by the shots he plays as if they have no peril.

He plays high-risk, high-skill shots as if they're the most simple thing in the world.

  12. Eng 314-3published at 66 overs

The West Indies introduce the spin of Kevin Sinclair into their attack, and England take runs from every single ball of his first over.

Brook wallops the last delivery over long-off for four.

(Re: 11:55) Got to fancy Root getting to at least number two on that list, assuming he isn't prematurely retired!

  14. Eng 303-3published at 65 overs

Root guides Jason Holder's delivery point to pick up two, before picking up a further single with a shot off the pads.

    England continue to roll along.

England can just bat West Indies out of the game from here if they want, scoring at this rate.

A very good first hour for England this morning. The pair of Harry Brook and Joe Root haven't been separated.

A lot of work for West Indies to do.

  17. Eng 300-3published at 64 overs

Joe Root finds another easy run into the leg side, bringing up England's 300 and taking us into a drinks break.

Alzarri Joseph isn't happy. He's done the right thing as a bowler, rushed the batter with a good bouncer and you need your keeper to back that up.

Josh Da Silva should have done quite a lot better with that. Four byes and the runs continue to flow for England.

  20. Eng 298-3published at 63.3 overs

Hands on hips time for Alzarri Joseph.

He fires an awkward bouncer at Harry Brook that the England batter has to duck under, but can only watch as Joshua Da Silva fails to take the ball above his head.

Four byes adding to the scorebook. One unhappy seamer on the pitch.
