  1. Postpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 29 April

    Durham 358 & 24-1 v Essex 488 - Durham trail by 106 runs

Another tidy over from Jamie Porter costs just one run, but no further breakthrough.

He has figures of 1-8 from five overs.

Simon Harmer continues at the other end and tempts Colin Ackermann to play across the line. Encouragement.

He then wraps Alex Lees on the pad, but it was sneaking down leg.

His compatriot Dean Elgar then calls for the pads as he's sent in under the batsman's nose. Full marks for attacking intent.

  2. Notts out there againpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 29 April

    Notts 400 & 4-0, Warwickshire 361

Notts openers Haseeb Hameed and Ben Duckett are back out there again.

But for how long? And who cares?

Two hours before they can shake hands on a draw. Nothing to play for here.

Notts skipper Hameed is immediately off the mark with a four to the cover boundary off OHD. One more than he managed in the first dig.

  3. It's Harmer timepublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 29 April

    Durham 358 & 22-1 v Essex 488 - Durham trail by 108 runs

It's taken just eight overs, but Simon Harmer - so often the second inning destroyer - comes into the attack.

Three runs, no alarms. So far.

Ah, maybe it was just a move to allow Jamie Porter to switch ends.

  4. Division Two - Donald misses out on centurypublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 29 April

Derbyshire's Aneurin Donald (97) is denied the chance of a century after being caught behind off the bowling of Joe Root. He leaves behind Zak Chappell (78*), who hit two sixes in the same over, and is scoring at a fast rate. Derbyshire (417-8) trail Yorkshire by 33 runs.

Leicestershire have lost a couple of quick wickets with Rehan Ahmed (85) and Ben Cox (0) both falling to Ben Sanderson. Peter Handscomb is 93 not out but his side trail Northants by138 runs with four wickets remaining.

Gloucestershire need 303 runs to beat Middlesex. They are currently 28-1 in their second innings.

BEARS ALL OUT FOR 361published at 14:48 British Summer Time 29 April

    Burgess c Stone b James 43 (Notts 400, Warwickshire 361)

Warwickshire are bowled out for 361, 39 runs behind Notts

Lyndon James has mopped up the Warwickshire innings by taking the last three wickets.

Michael Burgess drives to Bears old boy Olly Stone at mid off - and last man Oliy Hannon-Dalby has survived to post an unbeaten eight-ball duck.

    The 56th of OHD's 115-match first-class career.

His career average remains unaltered at 8.02.

  6. Will this be a nervy day for Durham?published at 14:46 British Summer Time 29 April

    Durham (358 & 19-1) trail Essex (488) by 111 runs

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

We weren't sure how the afternoon would pan out.

Would Essex declare? Was the plan to see Nick Browne reach the fifth double hundred of his career?

Either way, none of that happened. As Essex tried to push the score along at the start of the session, Browne was run out on 184. Moments later Harry Duke was run out on 20 and the visitors were soon all out for 488 and a lead of 130.

In theory Durham had 59 overs to bat out for a draw. But in gloomy, overcast conditions, they lost an early wicket. Skipper Scott Borthwick fell LBW four four to Jamie Porter at the start of the third over.

This has generally looked like a good batting track, but with a bit of drizzle in the air, the conditions may well suit the Essex seamers. Durham have their work cut out and need a sensible approach.

  7. Low blowpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 29 April

    Durham 358 & 19-1 v Essex 488 - Durham trail by 111 runs

The pitch has not offered a lot of help for the bowlers in this match, but another ball keeps low, this time from Sam Cook.

Alex Lees just about jams his bat down on it.

Then the same again! Lees is late on this one and he's slightly lucky not to get an under-edge on it. Maiden, but no wicket.

Essex will need everything to go their way if they're to force a result.

  8. 'Warwickshire need to get cracking'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 29 April

    Nottinghamshire 400, Warwickshire 360-9

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

From Warwickshire's point of view, they really have to get cracking.

They really can't afford to score at only one or two an over.

(Only five overs left to the 110-over bonus-point cut-off mark)

  9. Postpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 29 April

    Durham 358 & 18-1 v Essex 488 - Durham trail by 112 runs

    Essex on the attack.

Matt Critchley is barely a step off the cut strip as he fields to Jamie Porter to try and unsettle Colin Ackermann, but the South African plays out a maiden.

A more conventional field for Sam Cook, but there's still plenty of man around the bat.

A great piece of fielding on the rope keeps an Alex Lees' legside flick down to three.

  10. Postpublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 29 April

    Durham 358 & 15-1 v Essex 488

    Play and miss.

Alex Lees aims a big drive at a full and wide delivery from Sam Cook and it sails just past his outside edge.

    Nervy moments for the hosts.

  11. wicket

WICKET: Hasan Ali c Hameed b James 5published at 14:30 British Summer Time 29 April

    Oliver Hannon-Dalby time!

No sooner has Hasan Ali taken Warwickshire past 350 than he is out.

It means a third Notts bowling point.

    OHD is last man in.

  12. 'It's quite gloomy with damp in the air'published at 14:24 British Summer Time 29 April

    Durham 358 & 13-1, Essex 484

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

One of the things that might benefit Essex is that it's quite gloomy here.

There is a bit of damp in the air and the lights are on.

    See what I mean?

  13. wicket

WICKET Borthwick lbw b Porter 4published at 14:23 British Summer Time 29 April

    Durham 358 & 13-1 v Essex 488

Well, well, well. Just what Essex needed.

Jamie Porter comes round the wicket and angles one across Scott Borthwick and hits the top of his back pad in front of leg stump.

It looked to be going down leg, but the finger went up immediately and Borthwick is on his way. He does NOT look happy about it.

It took just 13 balls for the first breakthrough and Durham still trail by 117.

  14. Division Two - Middlesex declare on 449-7published at 14:21 British Summer Time 29 April

With Stephen Eskinazi on 65 not out Middlesex declare on 449-7 to set Gloucestershire a target of 331 at Bristol.

Peter Handscomb (74*) and Rehan Ahmed (71*) are ticking along for Leicestershire against Gloucestershire. They are 278-4 but trail by 176 runs.

Derbyshire are 348-7 at Headingley and closing the first-innings gap on Yorkshire, with Aneurin Donald not out on 81. They trail by 102 runs.

  15. wicket

WICKET: Aamer Jamal c & b James 40published at 14:20 British Summer Time 29 April

    Nottinghamshire 400, Warwickshire 347-8

Warwickshire lose their eighth wicket just three runs shy of a fourth batting bonus point.

Having reached 40 on his denut, Aamer Jamal returns a catch to Lyndon James.

Hasan Ali is the new man in.

A third Notts bowling point now looks more likely than a fourth Bears batting point. Their third is surely assured!

  16. 'Browne has really taken his chance'published at 14:19 British Summer Time 29 April

    Durham 358 v Essex 484 all out

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

Nick Browne not getting what would have been his fifth double 100 which would have been a remarkable achievement.

Essex have reshaped their batting order this season with Browne getting his chance in this game and, my word, has he taken it.

  17. Somerset grind on at Chester Roadpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 29 April

    Somerset 309-9 dec & 89-3, Worcestershire 450-8 dec

Somerset continue to block it out as the wind gets up after lunch at Chester Road.

Andy Umeed has six singles so far from his 35 balls.

Tom Lammonby has at least briefly entertained the windswept public with four fours.

But the Cidermn still trail the Pears by 53 runs.

  18. Postpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 29 April

    Durham 358 & 9-0 v Essex 488

A free swing for the Essex bowlers as they chase quick wickets in search of an unlikely win.

Jamie Porter opens up the second innings against Alex Lees who takes a single from the second ball.

Porter then sends the next into Scott Borthwick's pads. Close but no dice.

The next one keeps very low and the Durham skip does well to get his bat down in time.

The fifth clips Borthwick on the thig pad for four leg byes who then guides the final ball fine down to the third man boundary. Nine from the over.

  19. 50 runs

Half-century stand for Jamal & Burgesspublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 29 April

    Nottinghamshire 400, Warwickshire 338-7

Warwickshire going along nicely after lunch at Edgbaston.

Wicketkeeper Michael Burgess (30) and new signing Aamer Jamal (36) have so far put on 62 for the eighth wicket - to move within sight of a third batting point.

Still time to add a fifth too, if they give it the hurry-up.

  20. ESSEX ALL OUT FOR 488published at 14:05 British Summer Time 29 April

    Snater c Coughlin b Parkinson 7

    Callum Parkinson has a five-for!

Essex have lost their final four wickets and hit 38 runs in a crazy 25-minute post-lunch smash.

Shane Snater looks to hit Parkinson back over his head, but picks out Paul Coughlin at long off.

Brilliant work from the left-arm spinner who finishes with four wickets today and figures of 5-131.

Essex end their first knock with a 130-run lead.

Could we yet see a twist?
