'Deft touch' from Bethell sends ball rolling away to the boundary at slip

Jason Holder concedes just four from his first five balls.

There's some good footwork from Rovman Powell to intercept Jacob Bethell's shot down the ground near the rope and save two runs.

Bethell then ends the over with a boundary as he reverse sweeps it very fine past the wicketkeeper to the boundary. Cheeky!

  2. dropped catch

Bethell dropped on 21published at 17.1 overs

Jacob Bethell tries to go aerial again but he doesn't get the proper connection and skies it.

There are two West Indies fielders underneath it but it's Johnson Charles who ultimately goes for it and fails to collect.

And to rub salt into the Windies' wound, Sherfane Rutherford, the other fielder, has pulled up holding his hamstring.

Jacob Bethell follows it up with two more sixes to make it three in a row!

He then takes a single from the final delivery to retain the strike and the Southampton crowd are not happy. They were expecting another big striker.

Bethell moves to 21 from only seven balls.

A mighty six from Jacob Bethell brings up 200 for England.

West Indies do not need this. It's already messy enough.

  8. Eng 191-3published at 16 overs

Not what West Indies are looking for from Alzarri Joseph.

The fast bowler sends one too far down the leg and it races away to the rope for five extras.

He recovers to finish with two dot balls, but 13 runs still coming from that over.

Unless I missed it, no one has pointed out that Smith scored 20 off his first 14 balls, then 40 off the next 11 (ignoring his out ball). Remarkable scoring.

I like that England are showing flexibility in promoting Jacob Bethell. If he gets going here he could have some fun.

After only five runs from the first four balls, Ben Dcukett tries to sweep the left-arm spinner but loses his leg stump.

Jacob Bethell, and not Tom Banton, is the next batter in for England.

Too much width from Rutherford. If he's going to crank up the pace he needs to get tighter otherwise England will get on top of it.

England captain Harry Brook adds another boundary to the England innings and his first.

After conceding just six and taking a wicket in his first over, Sherfane Rutherford's second fails to live up to those standards as he concedes 14.

    England's brief boundary drought ends.

Evin Lewis does well to make ground from third and intercept Ben Duckett's near the rope the first time, but his dive is in vain from the next ball as the England left-hander takes the same route again.

Time to declare and give the bowlers some practice while it's still a meaningful target?

Gudakesh Motie has been one of the better bowlers for West Indies today.

And he finishes this third over to record figures of 1-22.

Rutherford's come on and done a really good job. His pace off has been really quite effective, they've struggled with their timing.
