England have really played the choice of angles and where they're going to take the West Indies on. Ben Duckett has played the reverses and sweeps, Jamie Smith, a bit taller likes to go down the ground, get up an under.

Ben Duckett is absolutely motoring here. Liam Livingstone has the fastest T20 century for England, by the way. He made a hundred off 42 balls against Pakistan in July 2021.

What an innings from Ben Duckett!

He guides the eighth four of his innings to the third boundary before getting away a low full-toss from Jason Holder for a single to bring up his half-century.

Blazing fast from the England opener.

In basketball you call it hot hands, every time you shoot, you score. Every time Ben Duckett hits it, it's a boundary.

  9. Eng 78-0published at 5.4 overs

So, the final over of the powerplay then and Jason Holder will bowl it.

Jamie Smith despatches him to the boundary from the first ball before giving the strike to his opening partner.

Ben Duckett then cuts him through cover for another four. No respite for West Indies here!

Ben Duckett is bringing out his full range of shots here.

He now scoops Alzarri Joseph to the boundary before hitting one down the ground. The West Indies quick gets a hand on it, but that is not enough to stop it from running away to the rope.

Six, dot, four, dot, four, four - the story of that over.

West Indies skipper Shai Hope hands the ball to Alzarri Joseph.

But the fast bowler is punished straight away as Ben Duckett smashes him for a six over midwicket.

    No stopping Jamie Smith here.

He finishes off Romario Shepherd's first over with another boundary.

The West Indies bowler concedes 18 from his first six.

So much intent in that show. He knew it wanted to get it through the off side. It's a good ball actually, but he backed away and absolutely carved it.

Different bowler, same intent from England.

This time, it's Jamie Smith who thumps Romario Shepherd for a four through extra cover and two balls later, he clears the rope over midwicket.

England are putting on a show here!

While boundary hitting is key in T20 cricket, the boundary dimensions in Southampton tend to increase the importance in non-boundary scoring.

England have been considerably better at running between the wickets, hitting 24 twos and two threes across the previous two T20Is - West Indies by comparison have only hit 11 twos and two threes.

  18. 6 runs

    Eng 33-0published at 3 overs

Four more runs to end an expensive over from Akeal Hosein - 17 coming of it.

Ben Duckett hits the third boundary of the over - this time down the ground - from the penultimate over.

Romario Shepherd will come into the attack for West Indies next.

Those of you familiar with the Utilita bowl will know one of the stands backs on to hotel, where the players often stay. I walked past Ben Duckett and Harry Brook in the corridor a little earlier with the former grumbling about a headache. It doesn't appear to have affected him too much by the looks.

  20. Eng 29-0published at 2.4 overs

Ben Duckett is on the offensive here but skies one only for it to drop safe.

But that doesn't stop him from sending one over backward square leg for the first maximum of the England innings!
