Hi, we extended our holiday to stay in Cardiff for today’s cricket, given that it’s my husband’s birthday. He is sat following your coverage and occasionally reading it out to me as we wait to discover whether cricket tickets were not the best birthday present! So might you please wish Julian a very happy birthday anyway. Thanks

I'll be honest, I'm totally unprepared for this now.

My mind is hovering somewhere over the closed road in Battle Hill, East Sussex.

  3. Match to start at 20:50 BSTpublished at 20:06 British Summer Time 10 September

    Hold on, what's this?

They're actually going to play some cricket.

We'll have a toss at 20:20 BST and the match will start half an hour later.

    Nine overs a side.

When you say a stone's throw, Sam... can we test that?

Actually scratch that, we've not gone much on but I don't want to be held responsible if you lug a rock over the top of the stand.

I live within a stone's throw of Sophia Gardens and there are clear skies with no rain. I guess it depends what side of Cathedral Road you're on...

Now, it might seem like there's an obvious answer to the question of why we don't play cricket in the rain.

It's obviously so I can talk about road closures in Liberec, Czech Republic.

But if that's not a satisfactory response, BBC Sport's Ask Me Anything service has got an alternative one.

    Take a read here.

Depends what you're offering in return, Jasper.

Also. Why has the world not invented an easy way to clean those bits down the sides of car seats?

    A flaw in humanity's development.

Will Matt clean the inside of my car too? Might be a french fry down the side of my seat in that hard to reach area... I'm not proud of myself.

And since Annie sent her message, that ice hockey match has finished with a result of Liberec 1-3 Plzen.

See, I'm still all about the live sport.

The main road into Cheltenham is totally closed from 1 September to mid December. Basically Christmas. Total chaos.

    David, Cheltenham

The tunnel under the railway tracks here in Liberec, CZ has finally opened in time for the new ice hockey season. But given that we’re losing 2-1 to Plzen, I recommend staying at home!

Sadly, I do have to talk about the cricket a little bit.

Another inspection has been scheduled at 20:00 BST, which will probably be make or break given the cut-off is 21:16 and the ground will take an hour to prep.

    Right, back to the roads...

I could send Timothy Abraham round - five hours after he arrived you'd still have a leaky tap, but you would be fully appraised about Brazil women's cricket team's tour of England.

If rain persists I'm personally not a fan of going as low as five overs a side. This would be not a fair reflection of either team and would be hard to say either team winning/losing would be reflective of much at all.
