  1. Eng 54-2published at 8 overs

A sixth bowler for South Africa as off-break bowler Nondumiso Shangase steps up.

Sciver-Brunt pulls her first ball away to bring up England's fifty from 43 deliveries, and four further singles follow in the over.

  2. Eng 49-2published at 7 overs

Ayanda Hlubi returns after she over-stepped three times in her opening over.

No such concerns this time, but a Sciver-Brunt inside edge slips away for four through backward square.

South Africa have come back really strong after their first two overs. They need to keep picking up wickets because this England side bats very deep.

If they can get the big wicket of Nat Sciver-Brunt and then Heather Knight, they will feel like the game is really in their hands.

Big turn for Mlaba in her first over, finding 3.7° of spin. Her average speed is just 74 kph, a whopping 10 kph slower than Ecclestone's in the first innings.

  5. Eng 42-2published at 6 overs

Nonkululeko Mlaba is sent into the attack, and Sciver-Brunt immediately dispatches the left-arm seamer through the covers with a back-foot drive for four.

The rest of the over is quieter, going for just a couple of runs, and that's the end of the powerplay.

A promising start comes to an end. That reverse swivel shot is something Maia Bouchier has been trying to get into her game, but she was nowhere near it in the end. She will be regretting going for that shot now as she walks off.

  7. Eng 36-2published at 5 overs

    Time for Nat Sciver-Brunt, then.

She has one ball to face of Marx's over, and she knocks it to mid-wicket for a single, retaining the strike.

One over left in the powerplay.

    Bouchier b Marx 20 (Eng 35-2)

    The stumps tumble again!

Both England openers are bowled in consecutive overs, as Eliz-Mari Marx wraps up Maia Bouchier.

The England batter attempts a funky reverse pull and doesn't get her bat on the ball, seeing it go on to knock her off stump out of the ground, with the other two remaining forlornly in place.

Two balls earlier she'd struck a lovely flicked four to the long-on boundary, but now she's walking off.

South Africa may have been happy at the toss when England chose to bowl first. They knew the pitch would get slower and lower as the day goes on and this is helping out the South Africa bowlers here

  10. Eng 29-1published at 4 overs

Sophia Dunkley is in at three for England, and she fends away the next two De Klerk deliveries before failing to get a bat on the seamer's final ball.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge has a little accusing look at the pitch before she exits.

Excellent bowling from Nadine de Klerk - she takes the pace off completely and gets the ball to move laterally off the seam. You can see how much it means by her roar of delight.

    Kept low!

Nadine de Klerk has a wicket with her third delivery, her delivery fizzing through the defences of Danni Wyatt-Hodge, who possibly got a hint of an inside edge on the ball before it crashed into her stumps.

De Klerk pumps the air in delight, that's a key wicket.

  13. Eng 28-0published at 3 overs

Hlubi is taken out of the attack after her expensive opening over, with 21-year-old medium pacer Eliz-Mari Marx taking her place.

She drops her third ball short and Wyatt-Hodge pulls her away for four.

It has been an expensive start from South Africa and this will be a struggle throughout this series. They need to find people who can replace Marizanne Kapp and Ayabonga Khaka. They can't use Nonkululeko Mlaba too early as they need her for the middle order.

Wyatt-Hodge always looks to give herself room to go through the offside.

She has scored 59% of her career runs through the off side, no player in the women's game scores a higher percentage of their runs on this side (min.1,000 runs).

  16. Eng 21-0published at 2 overs

Spin from the second over as South Africa introduce Sune Luus.

Bouchier eases her third delivery through the covers for four with a wonderfully timed short, before Wyatt-Hodge adds a boundary of her own with a cut to the point ropes.

It has been a dramatic start from England. They have felt quite stung since the World Cup campaign but that is the pressure which comes from the heightening of the women's game.

  18. Eng 11-0published at 1 over

Hlubi's woes continue as she oversteps for consecutive deliveries, with captain Laura Wolvaardt going over to suggest she adjusts her mark.

Wyatt-Hodge takes an extra run from the first of those balls, before Bouchier adds two more runs through the covers later in the over.

    A solid start for England.

This will be a testing total for England - Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Maia Bouchier will be feeling a little bit of pressure here. However, Wyatt-Hodge was England's stand-out player in the recent World Cup so she will be feeling confident.
