Perfect timing again from Adil Rashid with that wicket. Two sixes in a row from Hardik looked very ominous indeed. Can England restrict India to under 350?

    Hardik b Rashid 17 (Ind 289-5)

You were, in fact, wrong, Matt.

Hardik Pandya is bowled by a superb delivery from Adil Rashid, striking back with an absolute pearler to pick up his fourth wicket.

His ball turns sharply from a leg side line, turning to beat Hardik's bat and hit the top of his off stump.

The dangerous all-rounder departs for 17 from nine deliveries, meanwhile Rashid is finished with figures of 4-64.

    Ind 289-4published at 40.5 overs

    Back-to-back sixes!

Maybe Matt was right about Hardik's innings - the India batter smacks consecutive balls over the long-off boundary.

The first one went deep into the stands, the second just beating the leap of the fielder out there.

  6. Ind 275-4published at 40 overs

Atkinson continues, conceding a trio of singles before KL Rahul cuts him away through backward square for four.

He follows that up with a two towards square leg.

Adil Rashid is the best spin bowler in the world right now and is carrying England in both one day and T20. It's a shame the rest of the team aren't keeping up with him.

"Hardik's going to come in and hit 70 off about 20 balls," says my pessismistic colleague Matthew Henry.

Cheer up, Matt, and get answering the extremely fun and interesting trivia question I asked you earlier in this innings.

Hardik gets off the mark straight away with a single to long-off, before Rahul times a four nicely through the covers.

    Shreyas c Salt b Rashid 78 (Ind 259-4)

    Four and gone.

It's Adil Rashid who strikes again to remove Shreyas Iyer, his third wicket of the day.

His first ball of the over is a rank ball down the leg side which Shreyas rightly dispatches for a boundary through fine-leg.

The next ball also drifts down, but the India batter gets a tickle on it as he tries to turn the ball into the leg side and is caught by Phil Salt behind the stumps.

Gus Atkinson doesn't appear to be the middle overs bowler England are looking for in ODI cricket. He's taken just two wickets against right-handers in the middle period at an average of 127. He's better against left-handers, taking three wickets at 25.

  12. Ind 255-3published at 38 overs

Gus Atkinson returns, for what proves to be an eight-ball over.

The England seamer has been expensive today, going for 0-52 from six, and he sends down two wides in this over.

Each of his deliveries goes for runs, but no boundaries at least.

In this situation, you have to try and take wickets. England have been struggling here. Even though India have batted well, England need to try different things to try and get a breakthrough.

Livingstone pulls it back a bit, conceding three more singles from the rest of the over.

He's gone for 0-57 from his eight overs, with 11 of those runs coming from this over.

Not sure what we see in Atkinson to be honest. He looks low energy walking back after every ball, not economical, and not taking wickets. Doesn't look like he fits in to our energy of the team.
