They struggled to take wickets early on but England stuck at it well towards the end to restrict India, relatively speaking. Still an imposing target though, and the shots we've been seeing of Ben Duckett limping in the field don't bode well.

  2. wicket

Arshdeep run out (Salt) 2 (Ind 356 all out)

Big attempted heave from Arshdeep to Wood's final ball, missing far out of his crease and Salt runs the tailender out.

England will chase 357 - no doubt a challenging total, and one they're unlikely to reach, but they'll take some solace from India not passing 400 after being 226-2 in the 35th over.

The visitors took the last five wickets for 49 runs, while Wood finishes with figures of 2-45 from nine overs.

  3. Ind 356-9published at 49.5 overs

Kuldeep Yadav is last man in, following Arshdeep Singh to the crease as India field two new batters for the final three balls of the over.

The number 11 takes a single to backward square, then Arshdeep runs two out to long-on.

    And another wicket falls.

Wood opens the final over of the innings with two dot balls, before Washington Sundar spoons the ball to Harry Brook, taking a catch on the run at long-on.

But now Harshit has to go...

He pops the final ball of Atkinson's over to Jos Buttler at extra cover.

Oh, Harshit! I was being a little facetious with the batting all-rounder comment after the controversy in the T20s, but that's a great shot, powering the sorry Gus Atkinson over long-off for six.

Two balls earlier, Washington picked up four by sending the ball through backward point.

    Now that's a nice shot.

Harshit Rana makes room and drives Mark Wood through the covers for four.

    Two overs to go.

Not sure why Mark Wood is going to be left with an over still in the tank after he's been the most economical of England's bowlers.

  10. Ind 334-7published at 47 overs

    Here's batting all-rounder Harshit Rana.

Wood sends down two more yorkers, and Harshit gets the second out to backward point to retain the strike.

    Rahul lbw b Mahmood 40 (Ind 333-7)

Sorry KL, you've got to go.

He tries to crack Mahmood into the leg side, but is beaten by the full delivery which isn't drifting far enough to be going down leg.

One ball earlier, Mahmood had failed with the yorker, sending down a full toss that Rahul sent for four through backward point.

Struck low on the back leg and up goes the umpire's finger.

A wicket for Mahmood? KL Rahul is going to review it...

Four singles from the rest of the over, four overs to go.

    What are we thinking? 360-365?

    Dispatched!

KL Rahul lofts Joe Root's second ball over long-off for six, moving to 32 from 24.

  15. Ind 315-6published at 45 overs

No boundaries from Saqib Mahmood's ninth over, but KL Rahul hits consecutive twos into the covers and through backward point, despite Gus Atkinson getting a hand to the latter.

Perhaps surprising we haven't seen more twos here, given Ahmedabad is such a sizeable ground.

Adil Rashid in this series has taken six wickets in 32 overs in the middle overs at an average of 27.8. He's hardly had any support from the other bowlers in the middle phase with the rest of them in total taking only four wickets in 61 overs at an average of 107.3

Australia are right up against it but all-rounder Aaron Hardie and number 10 Adam Zampa are still battling.

Chasing 215, Australia have collapsed to 140-8 after 30 overs.

But Hardie is still there. He is still there, unbeaten on 29. Australia need 75 from the final 20 overs.

    Picks out the fielder.

Axar Patel goes to launch Joe Root's delivery over long-off but has to reach a little and doesn't get enough on it.

Tom Banton takes a step and allows the ball to drop to his side before taking the catch - nonchalant.

  20. Ind 302-5published at 43 overs

Saqib Mahmood returns and Axar Patel cracks his first ball past mid-off for four.

The rest of the over goes better, three singles coming from it, the first of which brings up India's 300.
