That's a cracker of a delivery. It's seamed, gone straight through bat and pad. It's a tentative step from Maia Bouchier, a sign of a player not in good form.

Maybe that was the plan, a few looser deliveries, let her get comfortable and then come out with that.

    Bouchier b Brown 1 (Eng 6-1)

    Bowled through the gate!

Brilliant from Darcie Brown, following up a few balls wide of off with a straight delivery that nips back to beat a tentative defensive shot from Maia Bouchier.

Excellent delivery and middle stump is flattened.

Bouchier's torrid tour with the bat is over.

Kim Garth is getting the ball to swing away from the England right-handers nicely now.

She draws a play and miss from Maia Bouchier to end the over, the England opener pushing at one she could have left.

Yesss! Six weeks of pain worth it all to hear Aussie commentators eat their words when they said England would have to chase 500! Great bowling performance.

Good first over from Darcie Brown, who was so impressive in the first innings.

Pace and a bit of movement off the seam too for the 21-year-old quick.

Maia Bouchier is able to get off the mark with a pull to fine leg, a bye is the only other run from it.

I think it's going to be about partnerships for England. They need to make sure they rotate the strike.

Play and a miss from Tammy Beaumont as Kim Garth gets the ball to swing away considerably from back of a length.

Loose from Beaumont and she'll be glad not to nick that.

Here come England openers Tammy Beaumont and Maia Bouchier.

The tourists will likely have to bat for the vast majority of the next two days to avoid defeat and a series sweep.

Top effort from Ecclestone to register her third five-for. She toiled away and bowled 44.3 overs in this innings. She's bowled more overs in an innings just once before, 46.2 overs v Australia when she picked up 5-129 in the first innings in last Ashes Test in Nottingham.

Australia have emerged on the boundary edge and Alyssa Healy gets them together in a huddle.

They need 10 wickets for a 16-0 sweep, England need 270 just to make them bat again.

Whilst Australia have a mammoth lead, they've collapsed today.

For the first time on the trip, England have been the better side.

Third five-wicket haul for Sophie Ecclestone in her Test career, all three against Australia:

    • 5-63 v Australia (2nd innings) - Nottingham, Jun 2023
    • 5-129 v Australia (1st innings) - Nottingham, Jun 2023
    • 5-143 v Australia (1st innings) - MCG, 2025

Magnificent effort from England on the third morning.

They took the last five Australia wickets for just 18 runs. A great response after a very difficult day two.

England have bowled well this morning. They'll take some confidence from that going into the second innings. Sophie Ecclestone and Lauren Filer have been excellent with the ball again.

I don't know how England are going to play this. They can't really sit back, they need to score runs. Australia are very much in the driving seat.

  20. wicket

    Perry c & b Ecclestone 2 (Aus 440 all out)

Sophie Ecclestone gets Ellyse Perry to secure her five-for!

Tossed up nicely by the England left-arm spinner, Perry pushes at it but just chips it back for a simple return catch.

Great effort from Ecclestone to get her name on the honours board at the MCG.

Australia's innings comes to an end but they have a commanding 270-run lead on first innings.
