    Thanks, Tim.

Here we go then, we're just three wickets away from Australia 16, England 0.

Alana King has the ball in hand so they could come pretty quickly.

Right, we're not far away from the evening session as the sun starts to dip down below the stands at the MCG.

My colleague Sam Drury is on hand to deliver the last rites of England's Ashes campaign as they stare down the barrel of a whitewash.

One of the pleasures of being a sports fan is occasionally seeing a brilliant team execute brilliantly. Not the series we hoped for but great to see a team redefining excellence in their sport.

England's defensive technique against the spinners has been tested in this Tests and they've struggled across both innings.

They've lost nine wickets to the Australian spinners while looking to defend, losing a wicket once in every 34 shots. Australia on the other hand lost only two wickets while looking to defend, once in every 140 shots.

Attempting defensive shots v spin in this Test:

    • England - 9 wickets at 34 shots per dismissal
    • Australia - 2 wickets at 140 shots per dismissal

Jack Rule: Alana King just goes to prove the point I continually say. Always play a leg spinner in your team. I wonder if England have a couple of them they could have played...

The MCG crowd, and England's batters, have settled down a little after those head-spinning few overs from Alana King. She's whirling away, though, hunting for wickets with fielders crowded round the bat.

Amy Jones manages to survive six balls without scoring. Another maiden for King.
