Looks like England's only change is to drop Maia Bouchier - harsh!

Matthews is so comfortable against the spin here.

  3. WI 23-2published at 5 overs

    Grimmond 1, Matthews 20

    Hayley Matthews, however, seems unperturbed.

She adds another boundary to her innings sending Linsey Smith's second ball over mid-on.

Realeanna Grimmond then takes a single off the final ball of the over for her first run in international cricket and keeps the strike.

  4. WI 17-2published at 4 overs

    Matthews 15, Grimmond 0

Realeanna Grimmond is the new batter in for West Indies.

And it's three dot balls to finish a double-wicket maiden for Lauren Bell.

The change of ends has worked really well for the England bowler.

Bell has struck twice in the over!

Lauren Bell is bowling very well to the left-handers.

Zaida James is a young talented player but she came out fishing for that.

Two wickets in three balls for Lauren Bell!

The new batter Zaida James returns to the pavilion without troubling the scorers.

James swings at a ball pitched outside off and can only offer an edge to keeper Amy Jones.

That was a bit of a lasso with the back lift there from Joseph.

Lauren Bell did very well with the length there, it meant the ball came up at an awkward height and when you've got that back lift, it's very hard to get everything to come together.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 3.1 overs

    Joseph c Smith b Bell 2 (WI 17-1)

    England have the breakthrough!

Lauren Bell is back into the attack and her inswinging delivery is skied by left-hander Qiana Joseph.

Linsey Smith gets under it and takes the catch.

Hayley Matthews has gone to the next level with her batting over the past two and a half years. In each calendar year since 2023 she has averaged over 30 with the bat. Previously in her career she had never averaged over 30 across a calendar year.

You've got to watch out in the crowd when Hayley Matthews is around.

    That's a maximum!

Hayley Matthews is not hanging around.

Lauren Bell is replaced by Linsey Smith but the spinner is hit over square leg by the Windies skipper, who moves into double figures.

  13. WI 11-0published at 2 overs

    Matthews 9, Joseph 2

With Charlie Dean from the other end, England go with spin from the off.

And it's a tidy over from Dean as she concedes just two runs.

    Qiana Joseph v Right-arm pace:

    • Over the wicket - Avg 33 - SR 99
    • Round the wicket - Avg 24 - SR 141

Should the England seamers gamble early and try the round the wicket option to the dangerous left-hander? Or will they look to keep the runs down early and stay with their preferred angle?

It was too short and Hayley Matthews had almost too much time to get into that and enjoy herself.

  16. WI 9-0published at 1 over

    Matthews 8, Joseph 1

West Indies are off to a great start!

Hayley Matthews finished the first over with her second boundary - this time through the midwicket. Not the start England were looking for.

You cannot afford to give Hayley Matthews an inch. Can Lauren Bell tighten it up?

  18. WI 5-0published at 0.2 overs

    Matthews 4, Joseph 1

West Indies captain Hayley Matthews opens her account in style.

It's a loose ball from Lauren Bell and it's punished by Matthews, who hits it for a boundary through deep third!

I felt that the team needed to be more ruthless and sharp mentally. Charlotte Edwards will bring that.

England are not a bad team but it's those crucial moments where you need to be really on the money.

We've seen with some of the selections that she's got that mindset that is going to lift this team going forward.

  20. WI 1-0published at 0.1 over

    Joseph 1, Matthews 0

Lauren Bell has the ball in her hands and will get us under way here.

And Qiana Joseph is off the mark straight away with a single.
