  1. 'I need to maintain this form'published at 19:52 British Summer Time 24 April

Michael van Gerwen talking to Sky Sports: "It is always nice to get back to winning ways. I played some good darts and I had good averages game after game and that is what you want for yourself and the fans. It gives me confidence.

"I need to keep making sure I maintain this form. It's no good for one weekend, you need to do it week after week."

It's been a lovely sunny day here, and while most players will get a warm welcome, Luke Littler will be the comedy villain as an avid Manchester United fan.

Although he hails from Warrington, effectively equi-distant from Liverpool and Manchester, his love for United is guaranteed to ensure a lively reception.

Littler knows what to expect, posting on social media beforehand: “One of the best nights on the Premier League calendar. Bring on the boos Liverpool.”

Having said that, I've spotted quite a few spectators with 'The Nuke' shirts so he will have some backing tonight.

  3. 'The reception is going to be pretty bad for me tonight'published at 19:50 British Summer Time 24 April

Luke Littler talking to Sky Sports: "Liverpool won the Premier League title at Christmas, let's face it. It is all about me getting another nightly win and breaking the record.

"It [the reception] is going to be pretty bad for me tonight but I always say to expect the worst. I'll just have to see what comes my way. If it is any better than I am expecting then I'll take it."

Tonight's second quarter-final is a cracker - a repeat of the World Championship final, in fact.

Luke Littler beat Michael van Gerwen that night and is sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table as well - a play-off spot pretty much in the bag.

However, after four wins in the first eight nights, Littler has not made the final in the three as his wait for a record fifth nightly win continues.

Last time he faced Mighty Mike in this competition, though, he hit a nine-darter on his way to victory in Cardiff.

Van Gerwen arrives in sparkling form, though, after hitting a nine-darter of his own as he won the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich on Monday.

The Dutchman still has work to do if he wants to add to his seven Premier League titles this year - he's outside the top four on nights won so Liverpool would be a good place for him to break his duck tonight...

    Result: Humphries 6-3 Aspinall

The numbers really are pretty special from Luke Humphries.

He finishes with an average of 113.5 with three 180s and 66.7% on the outer ring - good luck beating that.

Nathan Aspinall was 104.03, two 180s and 75% on doubles so he gave it his best. Not quite good enough on this occasion, though.

    He cruises into the semi-finals with a double 16 sealing a 13-darter.

Some effort to overcome Nathan Aspinall, who looked pretty good himself for much of that match.

Ultimately, though, the world number one was too good.

    Brilliant from Luke Humphries.

A couple of missed darts at double eight but they are the only blemishes of an otherwise excellent leg.

Slightly later than scheduled but it looks like we're ready to go and the crowd in Liverpool are in good voice.

As ever, Nathan Aspinall's walk-on song, Mr Brightside, leads to a cracking sing-a-long.

Slightly less enthusiasm from Luke Humphries and I Predict A Riot but the first match of the night is finally upon us...
