More from Gerwyn Price after beating Keane Barry: "They are significant points in the game where you win or lose. I could've ended up losing that leg, being 1-1 in sets and you never know. I'm just glad to get a win, it doesn't matter if I played bad or well.

"I felt like I played well in parts of the game. I just kept going in the game. I was trying too hard at times to play well but that's and part and parcel of the first round, you just want to get through. I've done that now, I can enjoy Christmas. I will be cooking Christmas dinner again and I can enjoy doing it.

On whether he was back to his best: "I think in patches of that game, I tried a little bit too hard. That's just the passion in me wanting to win. Now I've got through the first round, I will enjoy Christmas and come back a different animal. For me, this was a qualifying round to get into the World Championship, I split it up into two. I'll come back after Boxing Day and be raring to go."

  4. 'I probably wanted to win that match more than any in my life'published at 23:00 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2024

    Result: Price 3-0 Barry

Gerwyn Price speaking to Sky Sports after beating Keane Barry 3-0: "A win's a win. I probably wanted to win that match more than any match in my life. I wanted to enjoy Christmas, I wanted to just get a win and get home. It doesn't matter how well I played, how bad I played, I just wanted to get a win. I won 3-0 and another tournament starts after Christmas."

On the importance of the win: "Not the way I've played, but the results I've got, I've been on the wrong end of the stick. Losing some close games, missing some doubles. Keane didn't play his game, he missed a load of doubles. I was nowhere near how I've been in the last couple of weeks. Getting a win, getting home for Christmas and not being a grumpy so and so, I'm just happy to win. I will be a lot better in the next round."

Here's a question a few of you have asked, so we consulted the official rules.

Standard height from the floor to the bullseye on the dartboard is 5 feet 8 inches (1.72 metres), while the oche (distance between the front of the board and the toeline) should measure 7ft 9.25 ins.

That's a fair old way when you're under pressure.
