The world of darts players is getting quicker and quicker. They're all speedsters, but Peter Wright is very methodical.

    Smith 4-4 Wright

No breaks of throw in this match yet and the pattern continues in leg eight as Peter Wright hits double 10 at the second time of asking.

A best-of-three essentially now - Smith has the advantage of throwing first in the final leg if we get that far.

    Smith 4-3 Wright

Darts four and five land in the red bit too... but the sixth is just off target.

No nine-darter, Smith wins the leg.

Better from Peter Wright, who scores well and then takes out 60 in clinical fashion to level it up.

Smith starts leg seven with a maximum...

    Smith 3-2 Wright

Double nine is Michael Smith's friend again, this time to help him check out 96 and nudge in front at 3-2.

Luke Littler awaits the winner of this one in the semi-finals.

Another hold of throw, this time for Wright, and it's all square once more.

  9. Postpublished at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March

    Smith 2-1 Wright

Michael Smith is waiting on double 18 but Peter Wright adds some pressure on it, getting down to a double himself.

    Smith 1-0 Wright

Unfortunately for Wright, he starts the match with visits of 46, 60 and 60.

Michael Smith is to a finish first and makes a mess of taking out 66, but there's no mistake on tops on his next trip to the board.

Last up of our four quarter-finals is Michael Smith v Peter Wright, featuring two players in desperate need of collecting some Premier League points.

Smith was the winner of night one in Cardiff and got to the semi-final a week later in Berlin, but the 2023 world champion has not won in the competition since.

Wright, meanwhile, is the only player yet to win a match in this year's tournament and is at the foot of the table. He has shown signs of improvement in recent weeks, but he needs to turn that into results - and quickly.

    Result: Aspinall 3-6 Littler

That's five quarter-final wins out of six for Luke Littler in his debut season in the Premier League.

He's won only one of his four semi-finals to date, though.

Is this when he gets his first night win on the board?

It's that trusty double 10 that does the trick again for Luke Littler, who is through to a semi-final against either Peter Wright or Michael Smith.

The 17-year-old made a lightning quick start and although he slowed a bit towards the end, he'll be happy enough to be into the last four in Brighton.

Nathan Aspinall, the night five winner in Exeter, makes an early exit this time around.

  18. Postpublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March

    Aspinall 3-5 Littler

A hold of throw now for Nathan Aspinall and it's 5-3.

Littler still a strong favourite to win but Aspinall is finding some momentum from somewhere.

Aspinall comes through a scrappy seventh leg with a successful shot at double five. Littler missed darts for the match in that leg but he's still one away from the semi-finals.

There's nothing in this match so far which Nathan Aspinall can look back at and say 'yeah, I did that well'. He needs to burn the tapes and never watch it again.
