  1. What height should a dartboard be?published at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

Here's a question a few of you have asked, so we consulted the official rules.

Standard height from the floor to the bullseye on the dartboard is 5 feet 8 inches (1.72 metres), while the oche (distance between the front of the board and the toeline) should measure 7ft 9.25 ins.

That's a fair old way when you're under pressure.

  2. Kenny doubles first set leadpublished at 20:29 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

    Van Barneveld 0-0 Kenny (0-2)

A 140 from Raymond van Barneveld, his second of the leg, gives him a chance of a 101 out to break back on Nick Kenny.

The first dart picks out treble 20, the second takes the one and the third bends the double 20 wire.

On 97, Kenny comes back to set up two darts at tops and again, he takes the second for the leg.

  3. Kenny breaks Van Barneveld in first legpublished at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

    Van Barneveld 0-0 Kenny (0-1)

Against the throw, Nick Kenny gets the first chance of a checkout, but it is on 170 and it ends as quick as it starts.

Raymond van Barneveld has similar luck on a 160 shot.

Kenny also does not get 112 to go and Barney struggles on 100.

The Welshman does come back to see of 52 for a first leg break.

    Van Barneveld v Kenny

Raymond van Barneveld is very much one of the the true darting greats and he gets a great reception upon his arrival, even when the Alexandra Palace sound department manage to completely butcher his walk on music.

Nick Kenny was impressive 48 hours ago in victory over Stowe Buntz and will certainly fancy his chances against Barney here.

Next up, 2007 PDC World Darts Championship winner Raymond van Barneveld faces Wales' Nick Kenny.

Barney is back at the venue where he won this title nearly 18 years ago. In last year's competition, the experienced Dutchman reached the fourth round where he was beaten by Luke Littler.

Kenny, at his third World Championship, failed to qualify for each of the previous two editions. He got to this stage with a 3-0 win over Stowe Buntz on Thursday night.

The winner of this match will face current world number one and defending world champion Luke Humphries in the third round.

Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld is among the most decorated players at the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship.

Barney, who won this event in 2007, is a five-time world champion, with four triumphs in the BDO version at Lakeside.

In March 2019, he retired from the sport but reversed the decision a day later.

He then retired again in January 2020 following the conclusion of the World Championship, but in 2021, got through Q School to regain a two-year tour card and has remained on the circuit ever since.

The 57-year-old may not be in the same form that saw him reach the last four of this competition seven times in 11 editions between 2007 and 2017, but he is still more than capable of going on a long run.

Littler named BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year

Luke Little, who plays in around an hour or so, was named BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year 2024 on Tuesday night.

The 17-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough year after finishing runner-up at the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship in January.

The Englishman, who has won 10 senior titles on the Professional Darts Corporation tour this year, is the first darts player to claim the award.

"It shows how well I have done this year, not only for myself, but I have changed the sport of darts," Littler told BBC One.

"I know the amount of academies that have been brought up in different locations, tickets selling out at Ally Pally in hours and the Premier League selling out - it just shows how much I have changed it."

The second round of the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship is where the 32 seeded players in the competition enter the party.

Former Premier League champion James Wade and 2024 World Grand Prix champion Mike De Decker have both also bowed out of the competition before the third round gets going after Christmas.

The seeded players already to have been eliminated from the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship:

    • Michael Smith (2)
    • James Wade (16)

    Result: Noppert 1-3 Joyce

The Alexandra Palace sing "Ryan, Ryan Joyce" with the Englishman a hold of throw away from a 3-1 victory over world number 13 Danny Noppert.

Noppert scores a big 180, his eighth of a match to put the pressure on. Joyce's response? A 174 to leave three darts at double 18 for the match.

He takes the double in one dart. A sensational display from Joyce sets up a meeting with Ryan Searle or Matt Campbell after Christmas.

  11. Joyce moves one leg away from third roundpublished at 20:09 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

    Noppert 1-2 Joyce (2-2)

A second bounce out of the night for Danny Noppert comes at a bad time, but Ryan Joyce's treble-less visit softens the blow.

Joyce scores a 177 to set up three darts at double 14 to level this fourth set.

He takes it out in one. Clinical finishing.

  12. Joyce holds throw to stay in fourth setpublished at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

    Noppert 1-2 Joyce (2-1)

To level the match, Danny Noppert starts the leg with five treble 20s out of six darts, including his seventh 180 of the night.

Ryan Joyce and Noppert are both on a finish after nine darts. Noppert, for a break of throw and the set, puts his bull attempt into 25.

Joyce returns to take 68 in two darts on double four.

  13. Noppert clings on after missed doublespublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

    Noppert 1-2 Joyce (2-0)

Danny Noppert has just found his sixth 180 of the night to command the second leg of the fourth set.

If he could emulate his 180 success rate on the doubles, he would not be trailing in this match.

With Joyce back at 160, Noppert gets three darts to see off 24. Doubles 12 and six are both halved and a miss on double three gives Joyce a chance of a huge finish.

Joyce misses the first two attempts at treble 20 and Noppert busts on his second attempt at double three.

He is bailed out by Joyce, who misses doubles 20 and 10.

Noppert opts to go two, double two. It pays off for him.

  14. Noppert breaks Joyce in fourth setpublished at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

    Noppert 1-2 Joyce (1-0)

Better darts from Danny Noppert, who has to win two straight sets to avoid being the fifth seeded player to exit this tournament in the second round.

He leaves himself 97 to break Ryan Joyce and gets three darts to do so.

A single 19 and treble four end that out shot and the Dutchman can only leave 51, which he will come back for.

On his return, Noppert misses single 11, but a three and double 20 makes up for it to break Joyce's throw.

    Noppert 1-2 Joyce

Following that big checkout, Ryan Joyce starts the fourth leg of the set with a 180. His first of the night.

Two visits later, Joyce finds a 171, which Danny Noppert responds to with a 180.

Joyce simply ignores it and takes out 91 on the bull for a 12-dart leg.

He wins the third set after a couple of stunning legs. Excellent darts.

  17. Joyce leads after 124 finishpublished at 19:57 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

    Noppert 1-1 Joyce (1-2)

Winning that last leg seemingly gives Danny Noppert a boost.

Back on his throw, he has a healthy lead for the leg over Ryan Joyce and gets the chance to take out 117.

A treble-less visit from Noppert invites Joyce back on 124.

    Treble 20, 14, bull. Boom!

A first 100+ checkout of the night.

  18. Noppert breaks backpublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

    Noppert 1-1 Joyce (1-1)

Danny Noppert has come unstuck against Ryan Joyce in the last couple of legs.

He gets down to a 161 finish and the Dutchman finds trebles 20 and 17 but cannot take bull.

Joyce gets a go at 109, which he almost takes were it not for a bend of the double 16 wire.

Noppert mops up the leg on double eight to level the match.

  19. Joyce breaks Noppert's throw in third set openerpublished at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December

    Noppert 1-1 Joyce (0-1)

In the second set, Ryan Joyce averaged 94.01 to Danny Noppert's 93.04 in a five-leg thriller.

Noppert starts the third set with the darts, but Joyce is the the first one down to a finish.

The Englishman starts on 147 and a 95 leaves 52.

Noppert has no luck on 128 and Joyce breaks Noppert's throw on double eight after the narrowest of misses on the 16s.

Belgium’s Lex Paeshuyse created history at Alexandra Palace earlier on Saturday, defeating Daniel Stephenson 5-1 to become the youngest JDC world junior champion.

The 13-year-old produced a brilliant display on the sport's biggest stage, averaging over 90 and pinning five of his eight attempts at double to deny Stephenson, 16.

Paeshuyse followed up back-to-back 14-darters with an 86 finish on the bull to cap off a superb display.

"I'm actually over the moon," said the teenager, who is aiming to emulate his compatriots Dimitri Van den Bergh and Mike De Decker, who have both won televised titles in 2024.

Luke Littler - a two-time JDC Junior World Champion - was on hand to present Paeshuyse with the trophy, and the young Belgian admits it would be a dream to follow in Littler's footsteps.

"Luke is an idol for me, so I was very happy that he could hand over the trophy to me," he added.

    • A reminder that Littler starts his campaign against Ryan Meikle tonight. Walk-ons expected at 21:15 GMT.
