Harrogate Town chairman Bill Fotherby stands down

Harrogate Town chairman Bill Fotherby has decided to stand down after 12 years in charge at Wetherby Road.

The 80-year-old, who appointed former managers John Reid and Neil Aspin, bankrolled the club up to the Conference North in 2004.

"I decided the time was right to go. It was my decision," Fotherby said.

"I've had 12 great years in charge and achieved a lot in that time. It was the right decision to make. I felt it was time to move on."

Town currently lie in 14th place in the Blue Square Bet North table with 18 points from 15 games.
