Crewe manager Steve Davis is set to introduce yoga sessions to training.

Davis, who replaced Dario Gradi as Alex boss on 10 November, expressed concerns about the fitness levels of his players earlier this season, external.

"They're not a very flexible bunch," he told BBC Radio Stoke. "If you can help flexibility, you prolong their careers.

"It will cut down the injuries and strengthen areas where they're weak at the moment. It's something different and it will freshen things up."

Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs has credited his longevity at the top level to regular yoga sessions, external.

Crewe have bounced back from four straight defeats by winning their first two matches in League Two under former Nantwich Town manager Davis against Morecambe and Hereford.

With the Alex already out of the FA Cup, they do not play again until 10 December when they travel to struggling Northampton.

"They need a rest because it's been a really tough two weeks in terms of the tempo and the level of training," added Davis.

"They'll be working hard on Thursday and Friday and then we'll decide what we do at the weekend. Perhaps we'll let them go shopping with their wives and girlfriends."
