Brough, 30, had to be airlifted away from the scene but has now been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.

The former Darlington midfielder joined the club in November after a brief spell with Guiseley.

Harrogate are currently 19th in the Blue Square Bet North table.

Town boss Simon Weaver told BBC Radio York: "Fortunately he's come out of it largely unscathed. He's got severe whiplash and he's in pain but they released him quite quickly and he's at home.

"Obviously, we're without him for the remainder of the season but the main thing is, fortunately he survived it and he's here to tell the tale."
