Harrogate Town efforts please boss Simon Weaver

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver was upbeat despite only drawing 1-1 with Solihull in the Blue Square Bet North.

Lee Elam gave Harrogate the lead after seven minutes but Stuart Pierpont equalised with 11 minutes to leave both clubs one point off relegation.

Town manager Simon Weaver told BBC Radio York: "We can't be downbeat.

"I have to congratulate our lads for their efforts and also the resolve that they have shown in the last five games to be unbeaten."

Weaver added: "I can't really fault the players' attitudes or desire levels today. I thought we were superb first half.

"We took the game down the hill to Solihull, created a few chances and scored with one of them. I thought we played very well.

"Because of the situation we're in, we're protective of the lead even though we bark instructions from the sideline.

"Credit to both teams. Everyone gave it their all."

Harrogate travel to Corby for their final game of the season knowing a win will keep them in the division regardless of other results.

Weaver said: "If we'd have started with this team at the start of the season I think we'd have been up there.

"We've to keep telling them the positives because they're a great set of lads."
