Ilkeston FC destroy Sheffield FC to book play-off place

Ilkeston FC secured their place in the Northern Premier Division One South play-off final with a crushing 7-0 home win over Sheffield FC on Monday night.

Headers from Gary Ricketts and Ian Watts made it 2-0 and the visitors caved in after the 44th-minute dismissal of Connor Higginson.

Further goals from Daryll Thomas (2), Francis Green, Matt Richards and an own goal sealed the rout after the break.

Ilkeston FC will face either Carlton or Leek in Saturday's final.

The Robins were reformed after the demise of Ilkeston Town in 2010 and finished third in the table.
