High Court gives Truro City until June to pay tax debts

The High Court has given Blue Square South club Truro City until 25 June to pay its tax debts.

The club survived a winding-up petition in January but is now facing a fresh action after failing to pay HM Revenue and Customs about £51,000 it owes.

The court was told that Truro also owe around £20,000 to two other creditors.

FBT Sports UK is claiming more than £18,500, though that debt is disputed, while Lexlaw Solicitors says the Treyew Road club owes them almost £1,400.

Truro's lawyer Tom Fletcher sought a 56-day adjournment with a view to club discharging its debts to HMRC and Lexlaw.

Mr Fletcher said that contracts are being exchanged on Monday on a joint-venture agreement, and that funds have already been transferred to accountants in order for the payments to be made.

Truro in January, but were served with a new winding-up order by HMRC for the current amount in March.
