Truro City players receive wages one day after deadline

Truro City captain Jake Ash has revealed the club's players have been paid their outstanding wages, one day after the deadline.

Last week, Truro's squad said they would quit the Blue Square Bet South side if the money was not forthcoming by 10:00 BST on Thursday, 9 August.

The deadline passed without payment, but 24 hours later, the players have received their wages.

"We are pleased with the news," Ash told thisiscornwall.co.uk., external

"Hopefully the club will be able to field a full strength team for the first league match of the season at Billericay on Saturday week."

Following the passing of Thursday's deadline, striker Andy Watkins told BBC Radio Cornwall: "We have heard nothing from the club. It looks as though that will be it for me."

However, the issue appears to have been resolved and means that the squad will now train ahead of their match against Billericay on 18 August.
