Aldershot opened the scoring when Lopez headed home Rose's free-kick from close range but Rochdale drew level through Ashley Grimes' low shot.

Vincenti turned in Danny Hylton's cross before Rose converted from the spot.

Grimes got a goal back for the visitors with a volley but Reid headed a fourth for Aldershot, who ended the game with 10 men after Ben Herd was sent off.

Aldershot Town manager Dean Holdsworth told BBC Surrey:

Shots were fantastic - Holdsworth

"It was fantastic for the players. Four goals, four different goalscorers, some good stuff and could've had a lot more.

"We scored at good times and once we organised ourselves from their first goal, it made us angry which is good, we got a good reaction and scored.

"I thought Hector was magnificent. Him and Troy Brown were superb and Sonny Bradley has been ill so our plans had to change and Michael slotted in and did a great job."

Rochdale manager John Coleman told BBC Radio Manchester:

"I'm bitterly disappointed. The defending has carried on from the last three games. It was shambolic.

"To concede three goals in the first half for the third week running is appalling.

"I've got to take the blame because I've gone with these players. I've signed them, so I've got to take full responsibility.

"But I've been in this game long enough to know that you can turn it round and I've got every intention of doing that."
