Plymouth Argyle: John Sheridan targets attacking prowess

Plymouth Argyle manager John Sheridan says his side must start scoring more goals to avoid relegation.

The new Argyle boss is unbeaten in his three games in charge, but the 0-0 draw with Dagenham and Redbridge was the second successive match without a goal.

"We know what the problem is, it's been scoring goals," he told BBC Devon.

"It just didn't happen, usually when you're near the top of the league those things go in, but when you're near the bottom you've got to make your luck."

But Sheridan also pointed to the positives of his defence, who have not conceded in their last 190 minutes of League Two football.

"The performance was an improvement and it's another clean sheet, that's two on the spin.

"We've just got to take the clean sheet - we're three unbeaten, but we know the importance of wanting to win the games."

And Sheridan praised debutant Jason Banton.

The 20-year-old joined on loan from Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day and impressed on his first Football League start.

"He was a bright spark, he took care of the ball and got at them, I was very pleased with his debut.

"He's confident and he'll excite you, you could see what he was trying to do and he did some good things.

"He looks comfortable with the ball and he put in a good performance, it's just a shame we couldn't get the win."
