Steve Tully vows to fight for his place in Exeter City's defence

Exeter City defender Steve Tully says he will fight to get his place back in the League Two side's defence.

The 32-year-old right-back is Exeter's longest serving player, but has lost his place to summer signing Kevin Amankwaah in recent months.

"I'm still pushing him - I want to get back in the team," Tully told BBC South West Sport.

"I'm not happy to sit on the bench and the manager knows that, and I'll keep fighting to get back in the side."

Tully's start in the , external earlier this month was his first since the 1-0 defeat by Torquay at the end of January.

In that time the Grecians' defence has kept five seven clean sheets, , external and drawing 0-0 with leaders Gillingham at St James Park.

"Kev [Amankwaah] has come in, and me and Kev have had a good battle all season," Tully continued.

"He came in at the start of the season and did very well, then I had my chance.

"I played 25 games in a row and now he's got back in and to be fair he's done really well.

"The back four's done really well and with Artur [Krysiak] behind them we have a solid back five and we haven't conceded many goals which always give you a chance, especially in this league."
