John Sheridan: Plymouth still in control of own destiny

John Sheridan is relieved Plymouth Argyle's Football League destiny is still in their own hands going into the final day of the season.

The Pilgrims lost 1-0 at home to Rotherham on Saturday to leave them only two points above the drop zone.

"Results haven't gone our way, but it's still in our hands with one game to go," he told BBC Radio Devon.

"They couldn't have given me any more, I thought they definitely deserved something out of the game."

Sheridan, who took over in January, said he was always prepared for Argyle's survival to go right to wire.

"I said it'd go to the last game, it's a funny old league and it's going to go the last game.

"We've got to go to Rochdale and believe that we can stay in this division and that's all I'll be thinking of.

"If we keep giving the effort we've been giving, we'll be OK," he added.

"We're in a better position than four or five teams, that's the way we have to look at it.

"We'll focus, I'll get them prepared right and we'll get the result that we want."
