Dagenham & Redbridge: Wayne Burnett releases six players

Sam Williams

Striker Sam Williams is among six players released by League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 25-year-old scored eight goals in 36 games this season, but will not be offered a new deal.

Midfielders Kevin Maher and Dominic Green are leaving Victoria Road, along with youngsters Andy Burns, Tom Davie and Duran Reynolds.

Defender Jonathan Fortune and forward Ben Strevens have also departed after their short-term contracts expired.

Daggers boss Wayne Burnett said: "Sam Williams has been unfortunate with injury whilst here but he wouldn't sign for the money we could offer him.

"I felt it was the right time for Kevin Maher to leave the club at this stage in his career. Kevin is a fantastic leader, a great professional and I believe he still has something to offer another team.

"Dominic Green has all the ability in the world but he hasn't performed well enough and I think this was right for him and right for the club.

"Burns, Davie and Reynolds all did well whilst out on loan but I just felt those players weren't going to make enough of an impact to the first team."
