Accrington defender Michael Liddle has agreed a new one-year contract.

The 23-year-old moved to the Crown Ground last summer for an undisclosed fee from Sunderland after a successful loan spell.

Liddle made 36 appearances for Stanley as they secured another in the Football League and will start next season under new manager James Beattie.

"It's a brilliant club with brilliant lads and I can see it getting even better this year," said Liddle.

"We work hard for each other on and off the pitch. I think it's going to be a fun, enjoyable and successful year.

"I think once you come here you find it is different to a lot of clubs and you fall in love with it a bit.

"It's a great place to play your football and I think that's why a lot of lads come back."

Liddle joins Will Hatfield, George Miller, Ian Dunbavin, Laurence Wilson, James Gray and Dean Winnard in agreeing new terms with the League Two side.
