Scunthorpe United have agreed to sign winger Andy Welsh on a one-year deal following his release by Carlisle.

The club will also retain an option to extend the deal by a further year.

Welsh, 29, started his career at Stockport before stints with Sunderland, Leicester, Toronto, Blackpool, Yeovil and the Cumbrians.

Welsh told the club website: "The deal will go through on August 1. I'm an out-and-out winger who likes to get crosses in and excite the fans."
