AFC Wimbledon have signed Callum Kennedy after the defender left Scunthorpe United by mutual consent.

The 24-year-old left-back joined the Iron last summer and went on to make 18 appearances for the club.

Dons boss Neal Ardley told the club website:, external "There were not many left-backs out there that fitted our budget and criteria.

"When we heard that he was potentially going to Oxford and that had fallen through we moved quickly on it."

Ardley believes Kennedy will help him to change AFC Wimbledon's style of play.

"Left-back is a position that we wanted to get right," Ardley said.

"We are trying to get full-backs who will be comfortable getting further up the pitch and Callum fits the mould.

"Callum has got a wonderful left foot and he can take set-pieces. If we can get him moving up the pitch in advance of the wide players then I am sure he will be delivering quality."

The Dons have not disclosed the length of Kennedy's contract.
