Plymouth chief executive Martyn Starnes wanted new challenge

New Plymouth chief executive Martyn Starnes has said he wanted a new challenge after leaving Championship newcomers Yeovil Town to join the club.

"Yeovil is a great club and I wish them well but I felt it was time for a new challenge," Starnes told BBC Spotlight.

Starnes left his role at Huish Park two months after Yeovil secured promotion to the Championship.

Argyle director David Felwick told the club's website: "We're delighted Martyn has decided to join us."

Starnes feels it is important that Plymouth achieve financial viability and sustainability after the club entered administration in 2011.

"Hopefully my experience in that area can help Plymouth achieve that," he said.

"My vision is success and there's a planning application in to develop the area around the stadium and a new grandstand."

Plymouth avoided relegation to the Conference by a single point last season and Starnes said: "We're looking for early success, we want to be challenging for promotion and that will be our objective."
