League One side Crawley Town have signed experienced goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown on a short-term contract until the end of December.

The 33-year-old was a free agent after leaving Leeds United earlier this summer, following a two-year spell with the Championship club.

Ashdown made eight appearances during his time at Elland Road, the most recent of which was in February 2013.

He played 124 games during eight years with Portsmouth before moving to Leeds.

"Jamie is very experienced and is a great guy to have around a club," Reds boss John Gregory told the club website., external

"He is a very positive person who is still as motivated now as he was when he started out in the game."

Ashdown will compete with veteran Brian Jensen for the number one shirt after Raphael Spiegel returned to West Ham following his loan spell in West Sussex.
