Aaron Ramsey: Wales 'can cope' without midfielder - Chris Gunter

Defender Chris Gunter believes Wales' squad is strong enough to cope with the loss of midfielder Aaron Ramsey for October's Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Arsenal's Ramsey will miss the qualifiers against Bosnia-Hercegovina and Cyprus in Cardiff.

The 23-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in the draw against Spurs and is expected to be out for up to a month.

"If Aaron is missing then it is a blow but it's a situation we've been in in the past," Reading captain Gunter said.

"Hopefully the squad is strong enough now to deal with any injuries.

"From a player's point of view, if he is missing, somebody else has to come in and replace him and do the job."

"Knowing football and knowing international football, over the next seven games in the group we're going to meet up and we're going to have injuries in those games.

"We certainly can't use it as an excuse just because a player is missing."

Ramsey played in Wales' opening Euro 2016 qualifier in Andorra after missing the side's previous three internationals.

He suffered an ankle injury in the 2-1 win over Andorra but played for his club the following Saturday before picking up a hamstring injury in the north London derby.

Ramsey's fellow midfielder, Liverpool's Joe Allen, is a doubt for the home qualifiers against Bosnia-Hercegovina on Friday, 10 October and Cyprus three days later.

Allen, 24, has not played since injuring a knee in the win over Andorra on 9 September but Gunter hopes the former Swansea player will be fit for the double header.

"He's another big player for us," Gunter told BBC Radio Wales Sport.

"He's never going to get the headlines of people like Aaron or anybody like that.

"But he's such an important part for us in midfield and hopefully he's fit and available."
