Euro 2016: Joe Ledley encouraged by Wales support

Crystal Palace midfielder Joe Ledley is delighted by the support for Wales' Euro 2016 qualifying bid.

Wales face Bosnia-Hercegovina on Friday with more than 25,000 tickets sold, a record for an international at the Cardiff City Stadium.

That is more than double the 11,000 who watched Wales' last competitive game there, a 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Macedonia in October 2013.

"This proves we're doing something right on the pitch," Ledley, 27, said.

"It's down to us perform but it will be great to play in front of a full house, especially at the Cardiff City Stadium in front of Welsh fans who are very passionate."

Scotland's visit for a World Cup qualifier two years ago stands as Wales' highest attendance at the Cardiff City Stadium, but at least half of that crowd of 23,249 was made up of the Tartan Army.

Wales needed a late Gareth Bale free-kick to beat Group B minnows Andorra 2-1 in their opening Euro 2016 qualifying game.

"We haven't had this much pressure on us before but it's fantastic pressure to have," said Ledley.

"It means everyone expects us to qualify and win, I had it before at Celtic and you thrive under it.

"When I was up there you were expected to win week in, week out, even Champions League games, and it rubbed off on me."

Ledley is poised to win his 53rd cap against Bosnia and has a vital role in the midfield area with Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen out injured.

Bosnia lost their opening game at home to Cyprus and Ledley knows they will be in a strong position in the group if they can open up a six-point gap on their rivals before Monday's home game against the Cypriots.

"Win and we're in a great position," Ledley said. "It's one of the biggest games in my career.

"We know the next two games are going to be very difficult but hopefully we can put some points on the board."

Belgium and Israel are the other two teams in Group B.

The top two sides in every group qualify for France 2016 automatically along with the best third-placed finisher, while the remaining eight third-placed teams go into play-offs in November 2015.
