Irish Premiership: Cliftonville 2-0 Portadown
- Published
Champions Cliftonville maintained their challenge at the top of the Premiership table by seeing off Portadown.
Joe Gormley twice went close before Martin Donnelly took one touch and curled home a left-foot shot into the top corner of the net after 18 minutes.
David McDaid controlled the ball on his chest and shot low under Billy Brennan 27 seconds into the second half.
The Ports' best chance fell to Peter McMahon but he blazed over from 10 yards after good work by Darren Murray.
In the early stages of the game, Gormley saw an effort come off the post and another attempt was pushed away by David Miskelly, with David McDaid unable to get on the end of the rebound.
Cliftonville are one point adrift of leaders and north Belfast rivals Crusaders.
