Guernsey FC fly to all their away fixtures in the Isthmian league

Guernsey FC have been charged by the Isthmian League for failing to fulfil a fixture after they postponed last week's match at Carshalton Athletic having missed their plane.

A mix-up meant Guernsey thought they were on an 08:30 BST flight, but were actually booked on the 07:00.

With the school half-term holiday there were no spare seats to get Guernsey to England in time for the game.

The case will be heard at the league's next board meeting in November.

"The board met yesterday, considered the circumstances and the club will be charged in the usual way and it will be considered at the November meeting," Isthmian League vice-chairman Nick Robinson told BBC Sport.

Guernsey are in their second season in the Isthmian League's Division One South, having won promotion from the Combined Counties League in 2013.

Saturday's error was the first time in the club's four-year history that they have been forced to miss a game because of travel problems.

The fixture at Carshalton has been rearranged for Tuesday 2 December.
