Garry Monk: Swansea City will stay "on track"

Swansea manager Garry Monk says they will not be "knocked off track" by their 5-0 home defeat by Chelsea.

The loss left the Swans without a league win since the Boxing Day 1-0 victory against Aston Villa.

Monk says Chelsea's win left him as disappointed as their 4-1 loss at Liverpool and 3-1 setback at West Ham United in December.

"For 90% of the time this season we've performed very, very well in all the games," said Monk.

"There's only three games I can genuinely feel that disappointment, so apart from that we're still focused on what we're trying to do and we will judge it at the end of the season."

Monk said his side's "horrible" display against Jose Mourinho's men will not prompt a fresh look at the January transfer market.

The defeat came in the wake of top scorer Wilfried Bony leaving for Manchester City and after new Portuguese forward Nelson Oliveira arrived on loan from Benfica.

"It's about planning in advance and the plan will always stay in place," added Monk.

"The performance against Chelsea isn't going to knock us off track in terms of what the plan is and the focus.

"It's very disappointing and it's hard to take those type of performances and results.

"But we've all been in football long enough to understand that these do happen from time to time."

Monk expects his side's response to start in the FA Cup fourth round at Championship side Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

"All in all the bigger picture is we're still in a fantastic position," he said. "We're still picking up points and we'll finish the season strong, I'm sure we will.

"We've got good boys in that changing room. They didn't show it against Chelsea, they'll be disappointed, but I'm sure you'll see the right reaction in the next game."
