'Emmanuel Adebayor 100% committed to Tottenham cause'

Emmanuel Adebayor has scored two goals in 11 Premier League appearances for Tottenham this season

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says striker Emmanuel Adebayor will give 100% for the club despite the collapse of his move to West Ham.

Adebayor, 30, had been on the verge of a deadline-day switch only for chairman Daniel Levy to cancel the deal.

Pochettino said he is "happy" Adebayor has stayed and "has confidence" the Togo forward is fully committed.

"He is a very important player and we need to provide him with the tools to improve his game," Pochettino added.

"Like with all players, we try to push them, get them to train in a good way and after, when they have the opportunity to play, try to give their best."

On Saturday's derby with Arsenal

Tottenham claimed a point at the Emirates Stadium from a 1-1 draw with Arsenal, external in Pochettino's first north London derby back in September, which emphasised the importance of the game to the Argentine.

He said: "It's a huge game for us and huge game for the supporters. It's an important three points. Football is emotional and these types of games you need to play with your head but put your heart into it.

"The players know it is an important game, and feel the same as supporters. We are ready to compete on Saturday."

On departures disrupting focus

There were three major departures from White Hart Lane during the transfer window. Winger Aaron Lennon joined Everton on loan, right-back Kyle Naughton left for Swansea while Benoit Assou-Ekotto was released from his contract.

Pochettino said: "Always when the window arrives always different situations and different things happen, but now it's finished.

"The players are focused and try to help. I'm very happy. We have a very good squad."

On Hugo Lloris

Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was linked with a shock move to Arsenal, external earlier this month. The France international only signed a five-year contract extension in July last year.

Pochettino said: "I think that Hugo is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. His contribution is magnificent, great.

"Hugo is happy here with us. He is very happy. Maybe in the future, in his mind, he is playing in the Champions League with Tottenham."
